This morning we woke up to lots of messages from concerned locals about a litter of puppies being given away on social media..
We offered to help with the condition that they let us get mom and dad fixed. Which they agreed to.
These situations are never black and white. We would have loved to had time to plan, make them wait their turn for help and even require a monetary donation to offset the cost of caring for these unexpected pupsā¦
But what I always remind peopleā¦animals donāt have a say in where they end up or who helps them.
The positives:
- all 10 puppies are safe
- all 10 have been vaccinated, dewormed and bathed
- all 10 will be adopted into loving and capable homes where they will be fixed and never contribute to the cycle of unwanted puppies
The negatives:
- TEN PUPPIES to feed, house, clean, vaccinate, deworm, socialize and quarantine.
- these guys ājumpedā ahead in line for surrenders. Meaning someone responsibly waiting for an open kennel has to wait longer.
- we have had low adoption rates lately.
This is who we are at the core. Helping what ever dogs need help. Trusting that everything happens for a reason and following our intuition.
