I’m consistently asked “What is your secret to starting horses?” No secret. No tricks. Just consistency, clarity and patience. All horses respond positively to consistency, clarity and patience. Allow them to make mistakes and learn. Set boundaries and stick to them. Be very clear in what you want. They all respond well.

Trigger baby Swan’s Hemingway had a big weekend competing in his first derby cross novice. It was a very long course. Swan’s Hemingway (Ernie) had a few green moments but he was willing, obedient, honest and game. Can’t ask anymore of a young horse than that.

Swan’s Hemingway is available for sale to the perfect match. This is a horse of a lifetime. He has absolutely no limits. And he’s a joy to be around. 5 yo and should mature a bit over 17 h.

Trigger baby Swan’s Magnolia had a fabulous go at the Morningside Jump Derby this weekend. She was fantastic. Took a peak at the scary chevron but jumped it beautifully. The rest of the course was a piece of cake!!

It was a really long course with lots to look at and lots of great questions. Maggie has grown into a very solid horse and will continue to advance.

Offered for sale to the perfect match. 6 yo Trigger baby. 16 h. Two full seasons of hunting first flight. Solid novice and room to move up.

Meet Scout, a 4 yo gelding we’re starting for a friend. We broke him as a 3 yo and then he came back in the Spring to bring along. 16.1 and growing. Barefoot with great feet. Well behaved. Very big and expressive movement. Honest to his jumps. He’s green but with time will make an incredible partner in any discipline. Very sound and healthy. Breed is unclear. He came from a warmblood breeding farm as a yearling. The farm was closing down so breeding info was not available. For sale to the perfect partner. Pm for additional info.
