🎓 SKELLIE’S SCHOOL REPORT 🎓

Overall grade: B+
Popular. Athletic. Friendly. Very enthusiastic about attendance—especially yours.

At about 1½ years old and 45 pounds, Skellie is a spayed girl ready to graduate into a family of her own.

🎾 PE: A+ — LOVES fetch. Would happily major in tennis ball retrieval.
🐾 Social skills: B+ — Seems to do well with other dogs. Enthusiastic around cats, but hasn’t shown aggression.
🧹 Classroom citizenship: A+ — Keeps her kennel spotless.
🤝 Academics: Knows “sit” and “shake.” Still studying leash manners.
😂 Teacher’s note: Greetings occasionally involve leaving the ground. Older kids would be a better fit while she works on keeping all four paws down.

Her most lovable flaw? She is VERY excited that you showed up. Every time. Apparently, you’re a big deal.

Skellie loves her new alligator. 🐊❤️

But there’s one thing she’d love even more: getting to say “See ya later, alligator!” to us and heading home with her very own person.

She’s been waiting far too long. Skellie is goofy, affectionate, energetic, potty trained, knows sit and shake, and takes her games of fetch very seriously. She’s looking for someone who will give her the exercise, structure, and love she’s been waiting for.

Until then, we’ll keep loving her here. But we’d be pretty thrilled to watch this girl walk out our door for the last time. ❤️

🍺 SEEKING: A PERMANENT DRINKING BUDDY FOR ELLIE 🍺

Ellie has been waiting for a home for months, and frankly, we cannot figure out why nobody has scooped her up.

She originally came to us very thin after needing surgery to remove a piece of foam she had eaten. She recovered beautifully, gained weight, and is now healthy, happy, and apparently determined to make up for all that lost energy at once. Hence the nickname Skellie, bestowed upon her when she was still a skinny little skeleton.

Now? There is nothing skeletal about her. 😂

Ellie is ridiculously sweet, friendly, playful, and HIGH energy. She loves people. Possibly a little too enthusiastically. She is a jumper, especially when she first sees you, although she settles down once the initial excitement wears off. She could absolutely knock over a small child or an unsteady adult while enthusiastically expressing her feelings about friendship, so she needs a home that can handle her particular brand of joy.

The good news: there is a brain inside all that enthusiasm. She:

• is potty trained and keeps her kennel clean
• knows sit and shake
• is working on down
• is an excellent fetch player and will happily chase, retrieve, and bring her toys back for another round
• appears to do well with other dogs
• has shown no aggression toward cats while here
• is doing very well with appropriate toys, including her Kong
• is an accomplished squeaky-beer-bottle enthusiast 🍺

Because Ellie has swallowed inappropriate things in the past, her new family will need to be sensible about what she has access to and keep an eye on chewing, particularly when she’s anxious. Here at the clinic, where things are quieter than the shelter, she’s been doing wonderfully. She keeps toys in her kennel without destroying them and is proving that with the right environment, she’s actually a pretty darn good roommate.

Her ideal home: active people who want a happy, goofy, affectionate dog and won’t be horrified when 50-ish pounds of enthusiasm arrives airborne to welcome them home. Give this girl a yard and someone willing to throw a toy, and she will play fetch like it’s a salaried position. Probably not a home with tiny children, and not the best match for anyone who is easily knocked off balance.

Ellie will be adopted through CCAS, but she is currently staying with us at Farm & Family Veterinary Service and is available for meet-and-greets here.

She has waited long enough. Somewhere out there is a person who needs a hiking buddy, couch companion, fetch champion, amateur bartender, and personal space invader all rolled into one.

Please share Ellie. Her person clearly has terrible navigation skills and needs some assistance finding her. ❤️🐾🍺

Join the 4‑H Dog Obedience SPIN Club for a fun, hands‑on way to build communication and confidence with your dog while learning practical training skills! It’s a great opportunity to bond with your pet, meet other dog-loving youth, and develop responsibility in a supportive, encouraging environment.

The initial meeting will discuss the expectations of the class and will set a schedule for the remainder of the classes. Participants MUST bring animal health papers to the meeting. The cost is $25 per animal.
