This post is about a week late. But Stormy made some big girl moves and is out in the arena! I started this ride off in the round pen and then ended in the big pen. Seeing all the new things can be overwhelming so we worked on keeping her feet moving. She got a little heavy on the reins when asking her to change directions but other than that handled it well!

Dusty’s refresher course has been going very well! This guys super athletic and is a very reactive horse and we have to work to keep him thinking in situations that make him unsure.

Shadows coming along super well. We have moved to riding in the pasture. This will let her get used to the grass brushing against her bell, as well as let her see other things going on while she’s working. She took this like a champ and is working her way to a mountain ride!

New old face this month. Dusty was with me last year for a 90 day start and is back this year after doing a little growing up through the fall and winter. He’s owner wants some more miles and mountain time.

He’s had a little time off so I’ve taken a few days to remind him of what he already knows!

Miss Stormy is chugging right along in her training. She’s taken a few rides to get comfortable moving out without someone in the round pen to push her but we have gotten there pretty easily. Next step is to try a ride out in the arena and see how she handles that!

Spent a little bit of time last week working on leading Piper by her feet. This is one of the ways I help prepare a horse for hobbles. After two or so days workin on this I put the hobbles on for the first time. She handled it amazingly and caught on super quick!
