Remember Zero? This guy was plagued by hoof issues. He had recurrent white line infections, thin soles, and his feet would fall apart with every wet season or fly hatch.

In mid 2025 he went into glue ons and between the use of shoes and sedation I was able to resect his infections which were pretty severe. With each reset I would keep working away on the infections and leave him all the sole he would grow.

These pictures are almost a year apart. In February of this year we ran into some scheduling issues and I conferred with a fellow farrier, Michael Brown as well as Zero's owner about referring the case to Michael. I felt it would be a good fit and I was right. With some management changes and Michael's care Zero progressed in his rehab and has been comfortable and stable barefoot.

It was great to see Zero today and catch up with my former client. When farriers work together, we can help far more horses than we ever could alone!

💵 Rate Increase 💵

I've been putting this off as long as possible because I know everything is going up, and streamlining schedules and routes has helped me keep costs down, but on October 24th 2026 (the start of my 5th year of trimming full time!) my standard trim rate will increase by $5 to $55. Minis and drafts went up earlier in the year and will remain at $45 and $85.

If this is a hardship for anyone with multiple horses, please talk to me and we will work it out. I'm not looking to lose any clients over this. I really like you guys.

Otherwise, thank you for supporting the sustainability of my business and allowing me to continue to have a manageable case load where everyone gets the best care possible and I can take care of me too 💜

Missy mule has been on my schedule over 2 years now and is definitely a sentimental favorite. She's gone from feral to very opinionated and pretending she's feral 🤣 Missy trims at liberty and likes a taller hoof and a "less is more" trim. It's her world and we are just living in it 🤷‍♀️

This horse has taught me a lot and is always really fun to trim. He's a great example of what we can achieve using postural alignment as a trimming guide rather than trying to make the feet look "correct". He's grown a full new hoof capsule since the top photo was taken and I'm very happy with how his new growth has come in, both much healthier and better aligned with his coffin bones.

This founder case had a major setback this winter, she rotated severely again and a large portion of her dorsal wall died off and separated at the coronary band on her worst hoof. She spent 6 months in a direct glue clog style leverage reduction package with DIM and casting. She also started on meds after testing positive for Cushings and did a stint on Ertugliflozin to get her insulin levels under control.

I recently was able to coordinate with her veterinarian and get pre and post trim radiographs as well as discuss her case in depth and make a plan going forward. She has been comfortable since February in the glue on clogs and will be going in a Versa grip style shoe now that she has grown significant sole depth.
