Price Update 🐾💖🐩

Effective October 1st, most grooming services will see a small price adjustment. Some clients have already been brought to current pricing, so this change won’t affect everyone.

Those who will be seeing an increase shouldn’t expect to pay more than an additional $5 to $15. If you have questions about if your cost will be adjusted, just reach out.

Let’s talk about double-coated dogs and summer grooming. ☀️🐾

Every year this debate comes back: “Should you shave a double-coated dog or not?”

Here’s my take as a groomer…

In my opinion, the biggest concern with shaving a double coat is how the coat grows back cosmetically. Some dogs grow their coat back beautifully, while others may experience patchy, softer, or slower regrowth. That’s the risk I discuss with owners—not that shaving is automatically dangerous.

Will a thorough deshed and tidy help your dog stay cooler? Absolutely! Removing loose undercoat allows for better airflow through the coat.

Will a shave-down also make them feel cooler? Yes, it often will. Hair still acts as insulation, and less hair generally means less heat trapped against the body.

But here’s the part I think matters most…

No haircut can protect a dog from extreme heat. Even the shortest-haired Chihuahua can overheat in 100° weather if they’re outside too long.

The best ways to keep your dog safe this summer are:
🐾 Keep fresh, cool water available at all times.
🐾 Limit outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day.
🐾 Bring them inside whenever possible.
🐾 Let them enjoy safe ways to cool off, like a kiddie pool or a trip to the river.
🐾 Watch for signs of overheating and never leave them in a parked car.

At the end of the day, every dog and every family is different. My job is to educate you on the pros and cons so you can make the best decision for your pet. Whatever grooming style you choose, heat safety and hydration will always make the biggest difference. ❤️🐶
