Do people actually understand the need for data centers… or do they just hear “AI” and instantly think of ChatGPT and funny AI images on Facebook? 🤔
Here’s the uncomfortable question:
Are you part of the very system you’re complaining about?
Every day people stream movies, scroll social media, upload photos, back up their phones, use GPS, online banking, cloud storage, smart TVs, Ring cameras, Alexa devices, YouTube, Netflix, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, online gaming, and search engines — all powered by massive data centers.
Your entire digital life exists because of them.
People act like AI suddenly created the need for infrastructure, when in reality… society has been demanding more storage, more speed, more convenience, and more connectivity for years. AI simply exposed how dependent modern life already is on technology.
If you spend 6+ hours a day online while simultaneously screaming “no data centers,” you may want to pause and realize:
the servers powering your outrage… are also data centers.
This isn’t about blindly supporting corporations.
It’s about understanding the reality of the world we helped create.
The modern world runs on electricity, servers, cloud computing, and data infrastructure — whether people want to admit it or not.
Just a SMALL list of companies and services that rely heavily on data centers every second of every day:

Most people aren’t anti-data center.
They’re simply disconnected from how deeply integrated technology has become in their daily lives.
I agree farmland doesn't need to become data centers - there are plenty of vacant buildings all across our country, but if you're using anything on that list, you can't really complain about it.
