Vet Tech Week Spotlight: Meet Brooklin & Briar! 💙🐾

Today we're doing something a little different and shining the spotlight on a brother-and-sister duo at Pet Wellness Center — Brooklin and Briar! ❤️

Let me start by saying, their parents must have done something right! 🥰

Both Brooklin and Briar are incredibly polite, kindhearted, hardworking, and genuinely wonderful people. They have the kind of work ethic you don't always see these days, and we are so fortunate to have BOTH of them on our team!

💙 Brooklin — Our Dependable, Go-To Nurse!
Brooklin is one of those nurses who gives you peace of mind just knowing she's on the schedule! She has amazing technical skills, a compassionate heart, and a willingness to jump in wherever and whenever she's needed.
Short-staffed? Need someone to fill in? Need an extra set of skilled hands? Brooklin is always willing to help, and she does it with a great attitude!

She treats her patients with kindness and compassion, and her dedication extends to her coworkers and clients as well. When Brooklin is on the schedule, you know things are going to be taken care of! ❤️

💙 Briar
Briar is one of our part-time veterinary assistants while he works his way through college, and let me tell you, this young man is as steady as a rock!
No job is too small, no task is beneath him, and whatever you ask him to do, he gives it his all. He doesn't need to be the center of attention. He just quietly gets things done, and he does them well.

And here's something I absolutely love about Briar. 💪🐾
He spends plenty of time working out and has the muscles to prove it, but those big, strong arms have the gentlest touch when it comes to a scared or frightened animal. ❤️

🐾 Two siblings. Two different personalities. One incredible work ethic and two enormous hearts!
Brooklin and Briar, thank you both for your dedication, your kindness, and the pride you take in everything you do. You are the kind of employees every manager hopes to have, and I hope you both know how much you're appreciated.

🐾💙 Vet Tech Week Spotlight: Meet Haley & Lexie! 💙🐾

Today we're shining the spotlight on two more of our amazing nurses at Pet Wellness Center — Haley and Lexie! ❤️

Let me tell you, these two ladies are absolute WORKHORSES! 💪🐾

They give so much of themselves every single day to make sure our patients receive the best care possible. From running exam rooms and keeping appointments moving to making sure medical notes are completed and clients go home with the instructions they need, these two help keep our busy hospital running!

And their work doesn't stop there!

Need an extra hand in the hospital? They're there. Short-staffed in another area? They'll jump in. Need someone to step up when the day gets crazy? Haley and Lexie are two people you can count on! ❤️

What makes these ladies so special isn't just how hard they work. It's the genuine passion they have for veterinary medicine. That passion shows in the little things — the extra attention they give a nervous patient, the care they take in explaining things to a pet parent, and their willingness to go the extra mile even on the most exhausting days.

Veterinary medicine isn't always easy. Some days are long, physically demanding, and emotionally draining. But Haley and Lexie continue to give their all because they truly care about the animals depending on them. 🐶🐱

Haley and Lexie, thank you for your dedication, your incredible work ethic, and the heart you put into everything you do. We see how hard you work, and we appreciate you more than you know!

Tina and Kameron! ❤️

When your fur baby isn't feeling well and needs that extra TLC, close monitoring, and attention to every little detail, these are two of the people you want by their side! 🐶🐱

Tina and Kameron may have two completely different personalities, but they have something very important in common — exceptional technical skills, incredible attention to detail, and hearts that are completely devoted to their patients.

These two don't just care for your pets. They care about them, treating each one as if they were their very own. ❤️

🐾 Whether it's Tina taking the extra time to help a partially paralyzed patient outside for a bathroom break, making sure they have the dignity, comfort, and care they deserve...

🐾 Or Kameron going about her cleaning duties with a patient perched on her shoulder because, well, that's where that little one feels safest! 😂❤️

It's those little moments that tell you everything you need to know about the kind of nurses they are.

Behind the scenes, they're monitoring patients, administering treatments, recognizing subtle changes, and making sure even the smallest details don't get overlooked. But just as importantly, they're providing the love, patience, and reassurance that medicine alone can't give.

Tina and Kameron, thank you for being the kind of nurses who combine excellent medical care with genuinely compassionate hearts. Our patients are lucky to have you watching over them, and we're lucky to have you on our team!

🐾❤️ Celebrating the Amazing Hearts Behind Pet Wellness Center! ❤️🐾

We have some pretty incredible nurses and assistants on our team, and we want to take a moment to shine the spotlight on a few of them! 🌟

💜 Angie – Angie is our ROCK! She keeps Dr. Smith on point, keeps things running smoothly, and somehow manages to do it all with a positive attitude. She's one of those people you can always count on, and we are so lucky to have her!

🐾 Kelly – One of our newest assistants, but you would never know it! Kelly has jumped right in and quickly become part of our family. Her dedication, willingness to learn, and genuine passion for keeping your fur babies happy and healthy are already shining through!

💙 Jacob – How many hats can one person wear? Apparently, Jacob knows no limits! Nurse, physical therapy guru, lab tech, and even our unofficial IT department! 😂 He's talented, dedicated, always willing to lend a hand, and somehow always has a smile on his face. We don't know what we'd do without him!

💕 Morgan – Another wonderful new addition to our assistant team! Morgan has already impressed us with her drive, compassion, and eagerness to grow. She has a heart for animals and a determination to succeed that we know will take her far!

❤️ These are just a few of the amazing people who make Pet Wellness Center so special. Behind every appointment, every treatment, and every wagging tail is a team of people who genuinely care.

Ever hear the veterinary team say, “Let’s get a TPR” and wonder what they're talking about? 👀

TPR = Temperature, Pulse & Respiration 🌡️❤️🫁
These are three basic vital signs we check to help us quickly assess how your pet is doing.
🌡️ Temperature – Is it normal, too high, or too low?
❤️ Pulse – How fast and regularly is the heart beating?
🫁 Respiration – How fast and comfortably is your pet breathing?

It's one of the simplest checks we do—but it can tell us a LOT! 🐶🐱

🐾💙 Happy Veterinary Technician Week! 💙🐾

This week, we're celebrating the incredible veterinary nurses and assistants who give so much of themselves every single day to care for your fur babies! 🐶🐱❤️

What many people don't see is just how physically demanding and emotionally exhausting this profession can be. Our team spends long hours on their feet, comforting scared patients, assisting with surgeries, caring for sick and injured animals, and sometimes holding back their own tears while helping families through difficult moments.

They get covered in fur, slobber, scratches, and occasionally things we'd rather not mention! 😂 But they keep showing up because they genuinely love what they do and care deeply about every animal that comes through our doors. ❤️

Throughout this week, we'll be treating our amazing team to meals, snacks, and little tokens of appreciation to remind them just how much they mean to us!

We also want to give a HUGE thank-you to some of our wonderful sponsors who are helping us celebrate this week and help keep your furbabies healthy all year!

Royal Canin kicked off our week by providing breakfast for our team this morning! 🐕 BREED SPOTLIGHT: SHIBA INU 🐕

Small, confident, and packed with personality—the Shiba Inu is one unforgettable little dog! ❤️

From Japan: The Shiba Inu is an ancient Japanese breed originally developed for hunting small game.
🦊 Fox-like looks: Their upright ears, curled tail, and expressive face give them their signature appearance.
😂 Big personality: Shibas are intelligent, independent, loyal, and sometimes hilariously dramatic. Ever heard of the famous “Shiba scream?” If you know, you know!

🩺 Health: Shibas are generally hardy but can be prone to allergies, kneecap problems (patellar luxation), hip issues, and certain eye conditions.

🧼 Fun fact: Shibas are known for being especially clean dogs and often spend time grooming themselves almost like cats!

Independent, adorable, and definitely not short on opinions—the Shiba Inu has a personality all its own. 🐾❤️

🍰🐾 Happy National Dessert Day! 🐾🍩

Working in vet med is a lot like eating dessert…

Some days are a piece of cake. 🍰
Some days we're in a bit of a jam. 🍓
Sometimes the schedule is completely bananas. 🍌
And by 4:00 PM, we're all wondering if chocolate counts as a coping mechanism. 😂

Our patients have their own opinion on dessert too:
🐶 “I would also like cake.”
🐱 “I knocked it off the counter. Therefore, it's mine.”

Just remember—the human treats are for the humans! Chocolate, xylitol, raisins, and certain other dessert ingredients can be dangerous for pets.

So today, treat yourself to something sweet. You deserve it! ❤️🍪

🎃🐾 We’ve Been Saving This One for October! 🐾🎃

We may have waited a little while to share this photo of Drax, but once we saw his vest, we knew it deserved an October post! 👻😂

While his “I SMELL DEAD PEOPLE” patch fits perfectly with spooky season, it’s not just a Halloween joke—Drax is actually a working cadaver detection dog! 🐕‍🦺

Dogs like Drax are specially trained to use their incredible sense of smell to locate human remains and can assist in search and recovery efforts. It takes a very special dog, a dedicated handler, and a tremendous amount of training to do this important work.

We were pretty honored to have this handsome working boy stop by! 🖤🐾
