2 days.

This Friday 6/26/2026 Reds rescue will be picking her up to be euthanized unless they can find a foster for her. They have tried for years to avoid this but her needs make it difficult. For more details on her or to save her by fostering her, please visit their fb page Tails in Transit.

4 days.

Reds rescues has to make the terribly hard decision to euthanize her on Friday if a foster doesn't step forward to save her.

Red is a tough case and this decision does not come easily for anyone. She needs

- no small children ideally teens or older
- no men or a man who can understand her fear and allow her to overcome it with him.
- no other pets she has a very high pet drive which also go back to no small children.

Red is wonderful but had a bad start and has a lot of fear to get over. Once she knows you're not going to hurt her. She is very friendly and affectionate and wants nothing more than somebody to give her butt rubs and to cuddle on the couch. She would love a backyard to run in and would hate to go on dog walks.

So if you're a female home body looking for another female home body companion or know of one please reach out if she has only a couple of days left. Please don't wait thinking somebody else is going to step in. She's been in the rescue for over two years. Nobody else is stepping in. She needs YOU!

🆘 You're going to see us sharing a lot about Red over this coming week. Please keep sharing.‼️

We know you've seen her before.
We know you've probably shared her before.
And we're asking you to do it again.
Because Red is running out of time, and if we're going to find the right person for her, we need her story to reach as many people as possible!

🔴 Let's talk honestly about Red.
Red isn't an easy dog. If she were, she would have found a home long ago.
But she's also not a hopeless dog.
Red knows what is expected of her. She knows basic obedience. She knows commands like sit, wait, and free. She enjoys structure and thrives when she has a job to do. She likes working and responds well to clear expectations and consistency.

⚠️ The challenge comes when she encounters one of her triggers.
Small animals. Other dogs. Cats. Bicycles. Cars. Young children. Certain men.
In those moments, her obedience often goes out the window.
Could she improve with the right person?
We think so.
We believe Red has a tremendous amount of potential. But potential only matters if someone is willing to put in the work.

👉 What Red needs is an experienced, dog-savvy person who understands management, structure, and consistency. Someone who sees her challenges but also sees everything she could become.
If an experienced foster stepped forward tomorrow and said, "I'm willing to work with her," we would absolutely have that conversation.

The question is: where is that person?
For more than two years, Red has waited.
Not because she doesn't deserve a chance.
Not because she isn't capable of being successful.
But because the right person hasn't found her yet.

❤️ Maybe this share is the one that changes that.
📩 MESSAGE us if you'd like to learn more about fostering or adopting Red.🙏🙏 Please keep sharing. Red's future depends on finding the right person before it's too late.
⏰ We do need placement BY June 26th or we will be making the extremely hard decision to humanely euthanize her, as we have exhausted all options within our means to continue boarding her. And let’s be honest, boarding is not a life for a dog and we will not force this lifestyle on her any longer.

🚨 RED NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOSTER-TO-ADOPT BY JUNE 26 🚨

We're going to be completely honest about Red, because she deserves a home that understands her.

If we do not find a foster or foster-to-adopt placement by June 26, Red is at risk of euthanasia.

Red is believed to be a 3-year-old working-line Red Heeler mix who got dealt a rough hand early in life. Because of that, new people can be scary for her at first. She needs a little time, patience, and understanding. The good news? Once she realizes you aren't going to hurt her, she warms up surprisingly fast and becomes a loyal, affectionate companion.

Now let's talk about the elephant in the room: Red is a working dog without a job.

And unfortunately, she has decided that if nobody is going to give her employment, she will create her own. Her current self-appointed duties include monitoring trucks, investigating bugs, supervising small animals, and occasionally attempting to herd small children. She's very committed to her career, even though nobody asked her to be.

Because of this, Red is looking for a home with older children or no children at all and no small animals. She would do best with patient adults who understand that trust takes time to build. Men may need to move especially slowly with her, and a home without men may be the easiest fit.

The thing is, despite her working-dog resume, Red is not a high-maintenance girl. She's perfectly happy with a game of fetch, an adventure with her people, and then curling up on the couch for some quality cuddle time.

What Red offers in return:
❤️ House trained and not show signs of excessive barking.
❤️ Knows a ton of commands
❤️ Loves fetch
❤️ Loves adventures
❤️ Professional-level couch cuddler
❤️ Smart, loyal, and eager to bond with her people

Red doesn't need perfection. She doesn't need someone to "fix" her. She needs someone willing to see past her fears and give her the chance she's never really had.

Please share this post. Her person may be just one share away, and time is running out.

If you can foster or are interested in fostering-to-adopt, please reach out immediately. Red's life depends on the line. Please reach out to Tails in Transit for information.
