A bittersweet session today for Mister Toby 🐾💛
Toby ate the wrong farmer's chickens and a good woman saved him before that farmer could do something terrible. She didn't know then that she was bringing home her shadow. Her heart wearing fur. Her constant.
Fourteen years of Toby.
Of him following mom room to room because once you save a dog's life, he never quite lets you out of his sight. Of dad scratching that one spot behind his ear that makes his back leg thump. Of brother growing up beside him, the boy and the dog learning what loyalty means from each other.
Today we held an end-of-life photoshoot for this sweet old man. We pet his graying muzzle. We let him eat lots of treats.
Toby, you lucky, lucky boy. You found the humans who weren't afraid to love every part of you and carry you through your final years.
If you're lucky in this life, you get one dog like this. This family got theirs because he was dumb enough to eat a chicken and smart enough to pick the right car to climb into.
