The people who inspire us early in life often help shape the path we take.

Meet Dr. Thane Boyce! Growing up with a father who was a small animal veterinarian, Dr. Boyce saw firsthand how meaningful it could be to care for animals and support the families who love them. Those early experiences stayed with him, eventually inspiring him to become a veterinarian himself. 🐶

Now a Smyrna veterinarian at Good Dog Veterinary Care, Dr. Boyce’s primary professional interest is echocardiography. Through advanced cardiac imaging, he can take a closer look at a Good Dog’s heart and investigate concerns such as dog heart murmurs and heart disease. He also enjoys diagnostic ultrasound, soft tissue surgery, and dog dentistry.

For families planning to travel with their Good Dogs, Dr. Boyce is also a USDA-accredited veterinarian who helps provide domestic and international health certificates.

Our Good Dogs are getting ready for the spooky season!

When Good Dog Jade stopped by our Smyrna location to visit Dr. Boyce, she was excited to show off her spooky bandana to him! With her festive look and that big smile, she was ready for a photo with her familiar friend.

Over time, familiar faces become friends, and those friends become family. It's been such a joy to watch that special connection between Jade and Dr. Boyce grow over time. We’re so glad we could share this sweet moment with them! 💛

Meet Good Dog Jack! The 6-month-old Australian Shepherd who thought he would have a sock for a snack. 🧦

When this young Good Dog was believed to have eaten a sock, his family acted quickly and brought him to our West Cobb team for a closer look. His radiographs revealed that the missing sock was already making its way through his digestive tract, helping our team determine his next steps for care. With reassurance from his Case Manager Gracie, Jack felt safe and comforted, they even shared the most heartwarming smile! With continued care and close monitoring, he safely passed the sock on his own. 💛

Every Good Dog’s case is different. While Jack safely passed the sock with veterinary support, some foreign body cases need more involved care or even surgery. Thanks to his family’s quick response, our team could assess what Jack needed and monitor him along the way. If you suspect your Good Dog has swallowed something they shouldn’t, having them checked promptly is important to determine the safest next steps for care.

Our next stop is Smyrna!

Meet Dr. Ries Reinstein, Lead Veterinarian at Good Dog Veterinary Care Smyrna, our second Good Dog practice, which opened in the summer of 2023. A proud “Double Dawg,” Dr. Reinstein earned both her undergraduate degree and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Georgia.

As the leader of our Smyrna veterinary team, Dr. Reinstein brings experience in preventive care, soft tissue surgery, wound management, oncology, and diagnostic ultrasound. With her primary professional interest in Canine Dentistry, she enjoys helping Good Dogs maintain healthy mouths while improving their comfort and overall quality of life.

For Dr. Reinstein, veterinary medicine begins with understanding the Good Dog in front of her and what matters most to their family. She believes care should be shaped around each dog’s unique needs, helping families make informed decisions that support a healthier and more comfortable life together.

Nothing like good news to bring out a tongue-out smile! 🐶

Meet Good Dog Watson! When he came to our Smyrna location for a recheck after his dental, our team had glowing things to say about how he was doing. Watson seemed pretty pleased with the news, too! Just look at that smile!

We’re glad we got to see this Good Dog again and share this happy moment with him. 🐾

There's nothing like seeing our Good Dogs feeling better again! 🐶

When this Chinese Crested visited Dr. Milberger at our Smyrna location for a follow-up after his ER visit, a closer look revealed that what was believed to be an a**l gland rupture was actually a cyst on his rear, leaving him uncomfortable and in need of continued care.

Now with a clearer understanding, Dr. Milberger and her team were able to provide Bo with specialized treatment, along with plenty of reassurance from Case Manager Ryan. With continued care at home and another visit with Dr. Milberger, we’re happy to report that Bo is doing much better and feeling more like his Good Dog self again! 💛🐾
