🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and our pets can be affected, too!
Mammary (breast) tumors can be seen in female dogs and cats. In fact, about half of mammary tumors in dogs and the majority of mammary tumors in cats can be cancerous.
When you're giving those belly rubs always check your pet for new lumps or bumps along their mammary glands. Even a small, pea-sized lump is worth having checked by your veterinarian. Early detection can make a meaningful difference in treatment options and outcomes.
Spaying your pet, especially before their first or second heat cycle, can also significantly reduce the risk of developing mammary tumors.
This October, while you’re taking care of yourself and the people you love, remember to give your pets a little extra TLC, too. 🩷🐶🐱
