TO LOVE A RESCUER

" To love a rescuer, you must love all of them. You must love the scars covering their body from panicked and hurt animals they were trying to help. You must love their fractured heart, that has been broken so many times they no longer even take the time to mend the pieces.

To love a rescuer, you must embrace their grit and determination, and know that although they fight a war they can never win, they can and do win a few battles. You must love the tears they will shed over those they lost. You must give them comfort that they refuse to accept, as they blame themselves for things they could have never foreseen.

To love a rescuer, you must acknowledge the rage they feel towards the world at times and know that anger is driven by a love of life too few have. You must give them space and room to cry and mourn for the losses that others have caused out of carelessness or cruelty.

To love a rescuer, you must understand their passion to heal and save is a calling, not a choice. You must accept that to save animals is part of their soul and without that they can never be happy.

To love a rescuer, you must be patient. You must accept their work comes first. They will forgo sleep, forgo food, forgo their life for animals in need. They will work tirelessly until their body and mind fail them completely and they cannot go on, but they do.

To Love a rescuer, you must be strong. You must not be threatened by their focus and love of animals. You must accept that the things you love about them, the strength and convictions and loyalty are also what drives their sense of duty to animals in need; you cannot have one without the other.

To love a rescuer, you must never ask them to choose, because they will, and it will not be you. “

I remember seeing a lost dog post for a guy that looked like this. Can’t anyone advise if he has been located yet? Found wandering on a neighbor’s property this morning.

I would like to highly recommend Lee Morano of 3 Lees’ Home Improvement to anyone in need of his services (call 267-446-8040). The last storm brought a large amount of rock and debris down the mountain and across the entrance of my driveway. I contacted several local individuals that have tractors who could/would come over and move the debris out of the way. I received different price quotes from each one. Not only was Lee able to respond immediately, but he also charged me 1/6th of the amount as my highest quote. He was obviously proficient with his tractor but also took the time to get things just right and he even adhered exactly to my direction. When told of the price differentiation between quotes, Lee stated “I would rather be reasonably priced and help a lot of people (in order for Word of Mouth to gain me more clients) then over charge people that can’t afford it and only have a few clients.” So here is my Word of Mouth. Call Lee Morano when in need of tractor work and much, much more!!

Even though VSR is no longer able to afford to take in any additional animals, the twenty still residing here who have been unable to find forever homes due to either medical or behavioral issues or just the lack of interested from others wanting to adopt older/larger tortoises and dogs or diseased cats, continues to be an insurmountable task and expense for one person on a fixed income. In the last 30 days four of our residents here at VSR have been injured or fell ill and taken to the vet, rushed to the emergency vet (twice), seen a specialist, two had x-rays taken and all were prescribed a round or more of antibiotics. Starting tomorrow morning our male Sulcata will be going in for major life-saving surgery. VSR still remains a 501c3 non-profit, tax-deductible organization but its sole-employee (me) neither has the time nor the knowhow to reach out for help with fundraising or donations. If any of our hundreds of followers and/or the approximate 100 of our previous adopters have the interest or resources to help please send me a message. Thank you for listening.

***ANNOUNCEMENT***
After two and a half years and over 100 lives saved, Valley Stray Rescue is officially closing its doors for good. Thank you to all of those who have adopted from us and given our babies a chance at having a good life. Thank you to all that have donated supplies, food or made monitory contributions, and to all of those who have fostered or otherwise given their time and effort towards our cause. All former clients can still reach to us for questions or assistance by emailing [email protected] Our phone number and page will be deactivated.
