✨ Reina Update ✨

This week, Cam was able to take Reina for some exposure to the mechanical cow. Going into the session, she showed up confident and relaxed through the warm-up, walking, trotting, and loping around the arena while the cow sat in the corner.

When the cow made its first move, Reina made a big move too—but not to run away. Instead, she locked in, stood alert, and paid attention to what the cow was doing.

This was Reina’s first experience with the mechanical cow, and the progress she made over the course of the hour was incredible. From watching the other horses work the cow to gaining confidence with each pass herself, she continued to grow and learn right before our eyes.

It’s easy to get caught up in the destination, but horses like Reina remind us that the real victory is found in the process. Every small step forward matters. Every lesson builds on the last. Every challenge overcome becomes a foundation for the future.

We couldn’t be more proud of this little mare and the trust she’s learning to place in her people—and in herself.

✨ Focus on the process, not the goal. Trust in Him. ✨

✨Kit Update✨

Kit packed around the saddle for the first time today! She handled it well for her first time and having been put on the back burner for a month or so. We are very pleased with the fact that she retained everything from her previous sessions!

We’ve been working on Reina’s neck reining and overall body control lately, and the progress is really beginning to show. We’ve started putting that training to the test while breakaway roping cattle, and she’s responding with much more softness, balance, and consistency.

Her ability to stay collected, move off body pressure, and remain responsive through transitions and turns has improved significantly. It’s been rewarding to see the work in the arena begin translating into more practical, performance-based situations on cattle.

What a weekend at the 3:10 Clinic at Rafter 2F Ranch in Quincy, Indiana!

The weekend was packed full of laughter, learning, and even better company. There’s just something about spending time with friends, new and old, roping and fellowshipping.

Saturday brought a little friendly competition, and we were proud to have Michelle (aka Michael) & Havoc take 1st with their team, while Cam & Boni brought home 3rd! We’re pretty sure the horses did most of the work… but we’ll still take some credit. 😉

Huge thank you to the Fortner family for hosting such an awesome event at your beautiful facility and making everyone feel so welcome!

If you ever get the chance to attend a 3:10 Clinic, DO IT. You’ll leave with new knowledge, great memories, and probably a sore face from laughing all weekend!

When you take the time and proper steps it becomes very easy. First time seeing the rope dummy today. You can’t see it but I am not steering her at all. Just letting her know that here I want her to be.

We recently returned from North Carolina after competing in the East Coast Big Loop Ropers event at Cavvietta Quarter Horses. It was a pleasure to reconnect with longtime friends and meet new ones throughout the weekend.

Friday night’s jackpot was especially enjoyable, and I was grateful to finish with both 3rd and 4th place alongside my wife and Ally. While Boni unfortunately came up sore, I’m very thankful to my wife for allowing me to ride Havoc, who performed exceptionally well. Together, we earned a 4th-place finish in the Pro-Am on Saturday.

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Cavvietta and their outstanding team for hosting such a well-run event. I’m also grateful for the continued camaraderie and support from friends across the roping community.

I also want to recognize a few individuals for their accomplishments and support: congratulations to TJ Ebbers on winning the Pro-Am, and to Ally Manello for placing with Michelle and I at her first out-of-state competition. I’d also like to thank Jeff Howell and Mr. Richard for their help in securing our 4th-place finish in the Pro-Am.

Most importantly, thank you to my wife for her constant support and generosity—both in and out of the arena.
