It might be a little early for Christmas, but I couldn’t resist sharing this video of Fin and Widget trotting around the track in Christmas gear!

I’ve been slacking! Our show last weekend was SO much fun!!! I took a very small crew with only 5 horses showing and 1 only did one class.

Our Champions this weekend were Alex and Ducky in the Novice Hunter, and Ayelet and Cookie in the 18” Jumpers. Also not pictured is Ducky’s champion in the Intermediate jumpers that an old friend Emily catch rode her in.

Our Reserve Champions were Clara and Tommy in the Very Low Hunters, and Ayelet and Cookie in the 18” Hunters.

Also congratulations to Clara and Tommy for their win in the OHJA medal class, and to Cassie and Spirit for their fourth in the Gamblers Choice.

One more to go!

CAL, Cool Run Kid, How Expensive
2/10/2004-9/30/2026.

This is a HARD one to say goodbye to.

5 years ago when I branched out on my own, I was so blessed to be trusted with the care of Cal to use in my program as a lesson horse. I honestly couldn’t have started my program without him.

He was truly amazing for the beginners, but challenging enough the more advanced riders who enjoyed him as well. He never said “no” but sometimes he said yes with some spice.

I’ll never forget his spider monkey jumps over strange obstacles, and cannot thank him enough for being a steady presence when I weaned my yearling. He took my mom into the show ring after a decade of not showing, and was my side saddle partner.

He was truly one of the best. At shows, in lessons, as a retired old man, as Uncle Cal, He will go on my list of top horses I’ve known.

He left this world with the people who loved him most surrounding him, and his head in my lap. Thank you so much old man for everything you did for me. I love you. I will miss you.

Such a great day yesterday at our dressage clinic! We spent the day at the barn from 9 AM until well past 5, with each rider getting individual time with Laura. So much was learned and so many gains were made. We’re incredibly thankful to Laura for coming out and working with us and blessed to have Kevy join us with her riders as well!
