👂🐾 Don’t Forget Those Ears! 🐾👂

A dog’s ears are one of the most commonly overlooked areas when it comes to routine care, but keeping them clean can help prevent painful infections and expensive veterinary visits.

🚩 Signs of an Ear Infection:
• Redness or swelling inside the ear
• A strong or unpleasant odor
• Brown, yellow, or black discharge
• Excessive scratching at the ears
• Head shaking or tilting
• Sensitivity when the ears are touched

🧼 How to Safely Flush Your Dog’s Ears:

1. Use a veterinarian-approved ear cleaning solution.
2. Lift the ear flap and fill the ear canal with the cleaner.
3. Gently massage the base of the ear for 20–30 seconds.
4. Allow your dog to shake their head.
5. Wipe away excess debris and cleaner with a cotton ball or soft gauze.

⚠️ Never use cotton swabs (Q-tips) deep inside the ear canal, as they can push debris further in and potentially cause injury.

Some dogs, especially those with floppy ears, allergies, frequent swimmers, or heavy hair growth in the ear canal, may need more frequent ear checks and cleanings.

If you notice signs of infection, contact your veterinarian. Cleaning an infected ear without proper treatment may worsen the problem.

A quick ear check once a week can go a long way in keeping your pup comfortable, healthy, and happy! ❤️🐶
