As of June 1, 2023 Burger Performance Horses has closed its barn doors. Brett and I have had an opportunity to start a new adventure in Florida and we decided; after many tears and lots of prayer to take a leap of faith.
To be honest; I’ve struggled to make this post because there is so much to say, so many people to thank and so so many amazing memories to reminisce on. I’d like to first begin with thanking the little horse crazy girl I was growing up; the one that always wanted to be at the barn and on the back of a horse, the girl that dreamed of being a horse trainer someday. I have fulfilled that horse crazy girls dreams and I know that she would be proud. The lessons I’ve learned, the strong and capable woman I’ve become is mostly due to this business and I would not take back a single moment, even the tough ones.
My husband Brett deserves an entire novel listing the things he alone has sacrificed to live this dream. He went from the boyfriend that wouldn’t even walk into a stall with a horse to a husband that was capable of handling horses of all personality types; broke, kinda broke, not broke at all…you get the picture. Best of all, he has developed a true interest and love for the industry and that is much more than I could have ever asked for.
Family; where do I start? My dad for allowing us to build our business and lives on his beautiful ranch for the past six years. My step-mom Shannon for her encouragement, help, and for not getting sick of us; or at least not letting us know it lol. Brett’s parents for all of the time getting us to and from shows and MULTIPLE barn projects…y’all only THOUGHT you were retired.
My customers; there are no words. Without y’all there would have been none of this. You all were the backbone of this business. My dreams got to be a reality because of your trust in me as a horsewoman and the friendships that grew in the “Barn Fam” will last forever. It has been an honor to help you all on your individual horse journeys.
To the friends I have made in this industry, thank you. This is a tough business but the great people make it worthwhile.
And always thank you to the horses; the true stars of the show.
