A beautiful day to send these turtles home! 🌊🐢

Yesterday, our team released 14 sea turtles back into the ocean - 10 of our beloved “crusty greens” and 4 Kemp’s Ridleys! After months of treatment, care, and rehabilitation, watching them swim back into the wild was a moment we’ll never forget 💚

If you’ve been following their journey, you know just how special this release was. Seeing these turtles healthy, strong, and heading home is exactly why we do what we do 🫶🏼✨

Swim free, little dudes. We’ll be cheering you on from shore! 💙

From intake day to release 🙌🏼✨

These juvenile Kemp’s Ridley sea turtles arrived from a New England cold-stunning event in need of intensive care. After months of treatment and rehabilitation, they’re healthy, active, and preparing for their return to the ocean.

Fun fact: Kemp’s Ridleys were named after Richard M. Kemp, a Key West fisherman who first submitted specimens for identification in the early 1900s. They are also sometimes called “ghost turtles” because of their countershading — a natural camouflage that helps them blend into the bright ocean surface when viewed from below, making them appear like faint shadows in the water.
