From the Desk of Our President…
Hello Everyone -
We hope you had a terrific Summer! We wanted to reach out because there have been a couple of mild colds that we have seen recently in some of our younger dogs, resulting in a cough. In addition, a few of the vets have confirmed that they have also seen a few cases from places i.e. dog parks, groomers, etc. We are not concerned, but always like to make sure that our pups’ families are properly informed. Whenever colds circulate, there will be carriers that show no symptoms but can still spread the cold. As a result, they can linger for a period of time as new puppies and dogs coming from other facilities may be exposed to a carrier.
It is always a good idea to see your vet if your dog shows symptoms of a cold, such as a cough. Just like in humans, it may be viral or bacterial and may require antibiotics for treatment. Of course, if your dog is showing symptoms of a cold, please DO NOT bring them to daycare. We ask that you assume any coughing is due to a cold unless your veterinarian tells you something different. After your dog has finished a course of antibiotics or stop exhibiting any symptoms, they are then welcome to come back and play.
