Just because you ride in it at home doesnโt automatically mean itโs legal for your class. Most western saddles, headstalls, and breast collars are pretty straightforward, but ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐๐ข๐ญ, ๐ก๐๐๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ & ๐ซ๐๐ข๐ง ๐ฌ๐๐ญ๐ฎ๐ฉ ๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐ฌ๐ฉ๐๐๐ข๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ข๐ฆ๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐ญ๐จ ๐๐ก๐๐๐ค.
And donโt forget: how you hold those reins matters, too. Snaffle vs. curb, one hand vs. two hands, split reins vs. romals โ there are rules for all of it. Crack open that rulebook or ask a professional for help!

Study it ahead of time and, whenever possible, ๐ฐ๐๐ฅ๐ค ๐ข๐ญ ๐จ๐ง ๐๐จ๐จ๐ญ. Look around the actual arena and pick out landmarks you can ride toward. Maybe your extended trot starts at a particular banner. Your transition happens at the end of a gate. Your circle needs to hit a certain spot in the arena.
Knowing where youโre going lets you concentrate on showing your horse instead of desperately trying to remember what comes next.
