🌱 Spring grass is here, and while it’s beautiful, it can be hard on our horses if they’re turned out too quickly. We’ve been seeing a lot of laminitis/founder cases (“stiff moving”) and quite a few colics lately.

Please ease horses onto fresh pasture slowly:
🐴 Start with short grazing periods
🐴 Avoid turnout on lush grass after frosty or sunny days
🐴 Feed hay before turnout so they don’t gorge
🐴 Watch for heat in the feet, soreness, lying down more than usual, or signs of belly pain

That green grass can act like a rich feed change overnight. A little caution now can prevent a very expensive and heartbreaking emergency later.

When in doubt, talk with your veterinarian about a safe pasture transition plan for your horse.💚
