Director of Operations — The Gait at 45W (Maple Park, IL)
The Gait at 45W is a premium 75 stall boarding facility offering exceptional horse care in a professional, welcoming environment. We are seeking an experienced Director of Operations to lead our barn team, oversee daily operations, and ensure the highest standards of horse welfare and client service.
What You’ll Do:
• Lead and supervise all barn staff (full time, part time, weekend, seasonal).
• Oversee daily horse care, turnout, feeding, and stall management.
• Ensure accurate medication and special feed administration.
• Maintain a safe, clean, well-run facility.
• Serve as the primary contact for boarders and new clients.
• Conduct tours, onboarding, and orientation for new boarders.
• Manage inventory, supplies, scheduling, and operational budgets.
• Uphold barn policies, safety protocols, and care standards.
What We’re Looking For:
• 10+ years of barn management experience in a professional equestrian facility.
• Strong leadership skills and experience managing barn staff.
• Deep knowledge of equine care, nutrition, and safety.
• Excellent communication and client service skills.
• Organized, detail oriented, and proactive.
• Ability to supervise but also step in with hands on support when needed.
• Experience with Dressage and Hunter/Jumper horses preferred.
• Spanish-speaking (fluent or conversational) is preferred for communicating with staff and boarders.
Compensation & Benefits:
• Salary Range: $60,000 – $80,000, depending on experience
• On site housing available (adds significant total compensation value)
