Started in 2014 to address the need for quality veterinary care in Maple Grove, North Paws Veterinary Clinic's experienced staff focuses on providing excellent care for cats and dogs. A critical part of the North Paws mission to provide lifelong preventative care are the various Care Packages available. Do you stop giving flea, tick, and/or heartworm preventatives as the weather gets colder in Minnesota? Not only are our winters getting warmer, shorter, and more unpredictable, but some preventatives (like heartworm) work 4-5 months AFTER the initial bite from an infected mosquito.

This is the time of year when pet parents are giving the last of the 6 doses that they got in the spring. Don't stop now! Parasites are a year-round risk.

Refills are easy with our new online pharmacy. This pharmacy is more user-friendly with the ability to manage Autoships from your portal, maximum discounts are automatically applied (no coupon chasing!), and the system is comparing the big-box retailers throughout the day to keep prices competitive.

Preventatives filled in-clinic receive rebates for 6- and 12-month purchases as well as an additional 15% off for Care Plan patients. The 15% discount also applies to our 12-month injectable preventatives, ProHeart12 and Bravecto Quantum.

Meet Daisy, a spunky kitten that found herself with a fractured leg from a fall off the couch.

After the initial ER visit, Daisy’s owner brought her to North Paws for her follow up care. Keeping a kitten calm during recovery is no easy task and we were worried she may struggle to stay still for her bandage changes. Thankfully, Daisy loves Churu. She did very well as long as the snacks kept coming.

For her first bandage, the most appropriate decoration was a daisy. The next bandage was placed right before the Fourth of July, so we created a firework. We include a heart on every bandage placed even if we weren’t able to do a more involved design. How will it heal without a heart?

Daisy’s fracture healed quickly and she was able to be bandage-free within a month. Her injured leg is smaller than the other, but regular kitten activities should help build muscle to even them out.

North Paws Veterinary Clinic now offers Aquamation as an alternative to flame-based cremation services through our aftercare partners. Midwest Aquamation is family-owned and locally operated in Princeton, MN.

We still offer traditional cremation services with the choice of having ashes returned or not. Reach out via email if you have questions about end of life care.

While your cat may not go outside, they are still at risk of exposure to the rabies virus. A rabid bat was recently discovered living in the attic of a Golden Valley home. Maintaining current rabies vaccinations for all eligible pets in the home is an easy way to protect your family and community.

Rabies is 100% fatal but easily preventable. Schedule your cat's (or dog's) visit today. We offer 1-year and 3-year feline rabies vaccinations. Both are included in our Feline Care Plans.
