WORLD REDHEAD DAY 💕

Red hair in humans is rare and only 2% of the world's population. Red is the second most common Doberman color after black, making up an estimated 25% to 30% of the entire Doberman population.

Meet one of our newest intakes, a Red Doberman - Eros.

Eros came to us from Galveston County after spending weeks at the shelter; microchipped but Owners never responded to ACOs. He is about 4 years old and has a few broken teeth but otherwise healthy.

He had a meet and greet on Monday in Houston with an applicant but is available. Full bio will be posted soon after more behavior tests. We discuss lifestyle and expectations with every applicant and hope to ✨MATCH✨the dogs to the family for a successful placement.

UPDATE on Echo

It’s been a full week of small meals and antibiotics in a foster home for this badly malnourished Doberman.

He is alert, active and with unclear lab results -our Veterinarians want to observe him for another week and redo tests. The fluid in his abdomen has lessened. Echo climbed up on the couch with his foster and pushed his boney body into hers, resting his head on her for a nap. Clearly trusting and social, we hope his body can heal. Severe malnutrition will cause lab tests to reflect poor organ values and mirror other illnesses. Under Veterinary instructions, we are monitoring with minimal supportive care needed in the foster home.

Teamwork! Multiple messages were shared between street feeders, fosters, rescues and vet clinics to secure a plan for this dog. She was seen at a local park known of dumping dogs - fed by street feeders to gain her trust, she had no microchip and believed to be very young.

Welcome Emilia ✨
She appears to be a Doberman (mix maybe due to longer coat) and has started intake vaccines, deworming medications and blood testing through the rescue. She is young, petite (50 lbs) and found in early pregnancy during her spay exam.

We are slowly working through a waitlist and prioritizing intake pleas.

🩻 ❕ABUSE or NEGLECT ❔🩻

Our local Animal Control Officers at Brazoria County Sheriff's Office contacted us again about a dog in distress. Needing urgent medical intervention, this dog was severely emaciated with an alarming amount of fluid in his abdomen. We are experienced with the medical needs of a malnourished dog, the unique genetic qualities of this breed and trained on the mechanisms of abuse; intake includes exams with our veterinarian partners for best outcomes.

Updates will be made on this post, SHARE & Follow to help us meet their Doberman’s needs

🩸Currently at the vet - Day TWO of blood work, urinalysis, X-rays, repeated X-rays for diagnostics. The fluid has gone down, but cause is still unknown. He is Young and Heartworm negative, DCM is being strongly considered as cause.

Thanks to donations, Day ONE of testing with X-Rays with Dr Hanna was paid in cash. Surgery will be costly, if an option or needed -Donations to help this Dobie will be accepted.

Look for NEW Adoption Bios!

Thanks to Dr. Platts for donating her time which makes treatment affordable to small rescues.

Treating heartworms stops the damage from the parasite and gives our dogs more adoption options.

🦟 Prevention is the only way to STOP the spread of heartworms. What do you give your dogs?

Chico Diablo 🌶️ has been in his foster home for 475 days and is now PENDING ADOPTION!

We are preparing him for transport from Texas to Pennsylvania with a new tactical collar, emotional support blankie and some toys for stress. In true Chico fashion, stubbornly he posed for a photo, holding his HAPPY ADOPTION DAY toy from Max and Neo upside down. As a middle aged man, we saw some interest in him, but no commitment for over a year - is his life half over, or just half lived?
⌛️Seeing life upside down has perks. ⏳

We are so excited for him. He ended up being surrendered when his Owner died and the family could not manage multiple dogs. He is the last to be adopted due having some behavioral issues due to inappropriate training/usage of prong/shock collars. Full Story: https://youtube.com/shorts/oOiOR44tgjM?si=BsBVUo7vjVIt4mV7

We learned about several dogs seized during a cruelty case worked by the devoted ACOs and asking for help. This little dude was struggling at the shelter and was dirty, covered in fleas and mats. He is now in our care and with a foster, decompressing and looking forward to a full groom.
