ELMO’S SURGERY UPDATE

After managing infection in his damaged leg, he had an amputation which was initially successful. Elmo had an appetite but insisted on shredded cheese on his kibble and took his pills only in pill pockets. The foster noted bloody drainage from his incision so multiple vet trips to address pressure wraps and elevated wound care. Elmo hates wearing a wrap (diaper) and cone - he’s uncomfortable and only interested in eating a specific canned food (Wellness Chicken & Sweet Potato pate) *see comments for Amazon Wishlist

He was 71 lbs before surgery and now 70 lbs minus a leg - so there is progress in muscle tone and weight gain. *see comments for ways to donate for medical.

UPDATE: KIMMY

Kimmy came to us with a disfigured leg from the shelter. After X-rays and consults - it became obvious that corrective surgery was not an option. Some trauma had pulled her leg from the hip socket and twisted, her knee was facing backward and healed in such a way that there was no bend, she had nerve damage. During surgery - amputation was planned but complicated by twisted ligaments and blood sources. She had a 'all clear' exam today after also going through a separate spay surgery.

Dr. Lang and Dr. Doucet at Alvin-Friendswood Veterinary Clinic provided a discounted invoice of $1500.00 for everything! [repeated X-rays, RXs, Amputation and Post-Op care]

Thanks to all of YOU - total collected is $965.00 as of today.
She was not eligible for grants or medical sponsors we know of.

Eggnog is sleeping deeply tonight in a foster after being found abandoned in Brazoria County. When a Deputy offered to foster - we agreed to give this guy a second chance. He is severely underweight, open wound on his neck and cloudy eyes.

We are praying that after many many small meals of Quality food - some supplements, more naps and some Cuddles; Eggnog will be a thick, velvety, spicy Bulldog ready for the Holidays.🎄

𝖧ɑ𐓣ᑯડ𝗈ო౿ 𝖧υ𝗀𝗈

Last week we meet at-risk dogs in shelters in and around Houston. Volunteers asked us to consider Hugo at Harris County Pets. His medical records suggested a major medical need and we were not prepared financially for another emergency vet visit. Then we met him! We melted. 𝖢𝗁ɑ𝗋ოꪱᜒ𐓣𝗀, 𝖸𝗈υ𐓣𝗀 ɑ𐓣ᑯ 𝖧ɑ𐓣ᑯડ𝗈ო౿

He was on the euthanasia list for that day. ⌛️

Hugo went to see our Vet for an Upper Raspatory Infection and review of his X-rays. He just needed antibiotics, heartworm prevention (testing negative!) and now has his neuter scheduled.

𝖦ꪱᜒ𝖿𝗍ડ ɑ𐓣ᑯ 𝖣𝗈𐓣ɑ𝗍ꪱᜒ𝗈𐓣ડ have covered his intake needs. Thank you!
