Quite honestly, the best feeling is when we see the animals in our care going to their forever homes where they live the BEST lives. Ain't no greater feeling.

Hobbes (left, soul dog) is enjoying burgers on the grill this summer with his amazing family, while Wicket (right, our comeback kid) enjoys evenings on the patio with his clan.

We LOVE LOVE LOVE to see this, but we honestly think someone needs to check Wicket's i.d. and take away his car keys. ❤️

Confessions from a no-kill shelter.

Last month we took in 119 animals. Our typical intake is about half of that. We have been packed to the rafters for as long as we can remember.

We still get phone calls almost daily from people who tell us that we're not doing anything or that we don't do enough or that we suck. We get negative google reviews, and we get nasty voicemail messages.

But what we know is this: Every single one of us comes here to make a difference. We put our heads down and go to work to improve the lives of all the animals who are fortunate enough to come into our care.

There may be some who think this isn't enough, but we know that we are making a meaningful impact in Richland County. We also wholeheartedly believe this is not a problem you can kill away. We wouldn't even try. We are all about saving lives.

We know that we're never going to be able to solve all the problems of the entire county. We are a nonprofit existing entirely on donations and there's not enough time or money or people in this organization to fix everything. Community problems require community effort. Nevertheless, we always endeavour to do as much as we can with the time, space, and resources we have.

Thank you to everyone who likes us, follows us, and supports us. You keep our hearts full and our motors running. We are so grateful. 💚

Please please send prayers and positive energy to our little boy Maurice. He started to not feel well yesterday and was displaying some concerning neurological symptoms. He's under the vet's care, but his condition is very, very, very guarded.

We'll keep you updated but humbly request that you send all the love and light his way. He had a rough start to life and he deserves a redemption story.

We really hope we can deliver for him. 🙏🥲💙

Elise is currently resting in preparation for our rescheduled pet food pantry, which will take place tomorrow, Saturday, June 13th from 10-11am.

We offer this as temporary emergency service for people who are currently struggling to feed their cats and/or dogs.

We have the good fortune of knowing some truly amazing people. Our supporters, adopters, fosters are the BEST of the best.

We especially love when some of our favorite people foster for us and end up foster failing, ahem, foster forevering.

A hospice foster simply means that she will stay with you for the rest of her days. No adoption fee because it is a long term foster situation and we will cover all of her medical care. She's very, very sweet and very worth it. We'd love to see her in a home. 🩷

Miracle doesn't understand why no one wants her. We don't understand either.

Before you answer, "I WISH I COULD," we totally get it because we wish we could, too.

We're just looking for a hospice foster for this old gal to spend her golden years. We will cover all of her medical needs, but the shelter is no place for any dog let alone an elderly one.

Miracle would do best in a home that is quiet with someone who is home most of the time. She does not mind other dogs at all, but would not be a good fit with cats or chickens or bunnies.

Miracle has Cushings disease that is being managed with daily medication, which we will provide. ❤️
