The more we get to know
Espe short for Esperanza the more we see that she really is sugar, spice,
and everything nice. 💛

She’s dreaming of a cozy fall with her very own family: a soft spot on the sofa, warm snuggles, and her favorite people close by. Espe is a true people dog and an absolute love bug. She’s been doing well with most dogs she’s met so far, and she’s been good with kids, too. 🐶🍂

Espe is spayed, up to date on her vaccines, heartworm negative, and on prevention. She’s ready to find a home where she can settle in and discover just how wonderful family life can be. A foster home would mean the world to her, too!

This sweet boy was owner-surrendered and is ready to find the forever home he deserves. He’s a total Velcro pup who loves being close to his people. Rocky does well with other dogs and cats, and he’s currently enjoying life in a foster home while he waits for his person.

Good morning
As we start another day, we’re thinking about the dogs who arrived here scared, unsure, and wondering what would happen next.

Because of you, they don’t have to face that uncertainty alone. You show up with a kind word, a helping hand, a warm bed, a full bowl, and the promise that their story isn’t over. You help them learn to trust again and remind us why every second chance matters.

Looking for a fun, sweet, easygoing little guy to add to your family? Meet this adorable 1-year-old terrier mix! ❤️

This boy is full of love and has so much to offer his future family. He absolutely loves his people and will happily seek you out for attention and affection. He also loves to play with other dogs, so having a doggy sibling in his forever home would make him extra happy! 🐶

He’s great with dogs, cats, and kids, making him a wonderful candidate for a family looking for a friendly, loving companion.

It’s your weekly tap on the shoulder… come volunteer with us! 🐾

There are so many ways to help at Second Chance Dog Rescue. Maybe your company is looking for a team project, you’re a Boy Scout working toward your Eagle Scout rank, or your employer matches volunteer hours. Or maybe you’d just love to spend some time with the dogs now that the temperatures have cooled down. 💚

We’re also building an on-call list for people who can lend a hand when a project comes up. It may not be every day, but when we need help, it would be wonderful to know who to call and which direction to point them! 😆

Are you handy with tools? A skilled carpenter, tradesperson, or someone who enjoys building and maintenance projects? We can always use your help. There’s never a shortage of projects around here, and our small group of dedicated gentlemen carries a pretty impressive rescue “honey-do” list. I’m sure they see me coming and start running but we’re so grateful for everything they do! 😂

We can use volunteers in all kinds of ways. Help us keep our facility in tip-top shape, support the dogs, and be part of a caring team.

🐾 Remember this tiny little bottle baby we saved a few weeks ago? 🍼

Look at him now! He’s growing like a wildflower, starting to play, and finding his little feet. Those wobbly Bambi legs are getting stronger every day, and we couldn’t love him more. 💛

He’s doing so well that we feel he’s out of the woods and ready to find a foster—or maybe even his forever family! He’s been with our director since he was just a day or two old, and he’ll still need bottle feedings for another two to three weeks. His last feeding is around midnight, and his morning feeding is at 5 AM.

He’ll need someone who can be home and keep up with his care while he’s still a bottle baby. In return, you’ll get to watch this little sugar pie grow, play, and discover the world. 🥹

Kindness can be a soft voice for a scared dog, a warm bed for a pup who’s never had one, a meal, a walk, a second chance or simply choosing to care when it would be easier to look away. 🐾

At Second Chance Dog Rescue, we see kindness in every volunteer who shows up, every foster who opens their home, every adopter who says “you’re safe now,” and every person who supports our dogs along the way. You remind them and us that love is still out there. 💕

Today, let’s make kindness a little bigger. Be patient. Be generous. Help an animal in need. And remember: one small act can change a life. 🐶✨

🚨 NEW ARRIVAL: MISO 🚨

Meet Miso, a little country boy who’s ready to try city life! 🐾

Miso came to us as an owner surrender. He lived on acreage with his family, but he wasn’t a good fit around the livestock and chickens. His family had six children, and he did well with the kids. Ok

He’s a little shy and will need a home that can give him time, patience, and grace as he adjusts. Leash walks, apartment life, and the louder sounds of the city are all new to him, so a quieter, lower-traffic home would be a wonderful fit while he settles in. 🏡

Miso is up to date on his vaccines and already neutered. He’s scheduled to be heartworm tested tomorrow. He’s a real sweetheart, and we believe he’ll do well with someone who lets him find his confidence at his own pace. 💛
