🌟 VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT 🌟

Today, we want you all to meet Jana! ❤️🐾

Jana first came to SCDRM a couple of years ago when we took in what felt like an endless number of Chihuahuas. For some people, that might have been overwhelming... but not Jana. She kept showing up.

Fast forward to today, and she is one of our core volunteers. She is also a dedicated foster, opening her home and heart to animals who need a safe place to land while they wait for their forever families.

But there is something even more special we want to recognize.

Many of you know Winston—the shepherd mix who was found on our road and came into our care on January 4, 2026. Since the day he arrived, Jana has shown up to walk and feed him twice a day, every day.

Read that again.

Every. Single. Day. ❤️

Whether she's volunteering on a shift, fostering an animal in need, or making sure Winston gets the care and attention he deserves while waiting for a forever family, Jana embodies everything that makes rescue possible.

We are incredibly grateful for her and for all of the amazing volunteers who give so much of themselves to the animals in our care.

Jana, thank you for your time, your dedication, your compassion, and your unwavering commitment to giving these animals the second chance they deserve. ❤️🐾

🐾 STELLA GRACE'S DNA RESULTS ARE IN! 🧬

Remember sweet Stella Grace? The little girl who found her forever home and stole so many hearts along the way? ❤️

Her amazing family recently completed a Wisdom Panel DNA test, and the results are officially in!

If you guessed she was a little bit of everything... you weren't wrong! 😂

We absolutely love seeing these results because they remind us that rescue dogs are truly one of a kind. While it's fun to see what breeds make up Stella Grace, what really matters is the dog she has always been:

Meet Emily. ❤️

In the next couple of weeks once her babies are all weaned and going home, Emily will be looking for a foster home, or even better, a forever home.

We believe Emily has had a few litters in her lifetime, and we can tell you with certainty that this was her last one. She has done her job as a mama. She cared for her babies so fiercely and so beautifully, and now it is her turn to be cared for.

Emily came to us and gave birth about a week later. For the first couple of weeks, she did not want us near her babies. She was protective, unsure, and clearly doing the only thing she knew to do — keep them safe. Around three weeks in, something changed. She realized we were there to help her, not hurt her.

Since then, we have watched her slowly start to trust and love.

Emily is a seasoned gal, around 6–7 years old, and she deserves so much more than the hand she was dealt in life. She deserves love. She deserves peace. She deserves a soft place to land where she never has to worry about raising another litter again.

She is doing so well on a leash, and while loud noises can still be scary, she responds beautifully to positive encouragement. In new situations, she looks to you for guidance with those big, soulful eyes, and you cannot help but fall in love with her.

Emily is gentle, resilient, and so deserving of a second chance.

She took care of her babies. Now we are hoping someone will help us take care of her. ❤️
