Maggie finally meets Ethan❤️ such a magical moment and I can’t wait to get this girl sent off to training so she can protect her boy! We are so excited to get the opportunity to help this family and the families to come!
I’m going to share his story with you guys from mom so y’all can hear why having an alert dog would benefit him!
(This is our son, Ethan. On any given day you can find him outside working on something. He’s always blacksmithing, rebuilding old golf carts, lawnmowers, or four wheelers, or helping Dad in the shop. He has always been an outdoors boy which is why we were concerned on the days leading up to his diagnosis. He had started complaining of not feeling well and just didn’t feel like doing much. He was also exhibiting other signs that we thought was indigestion and maybe a virus. I scheduled his appointment to see the doctor but he got extremely ill pretty rapidly.
On July 8, 2022, at the age of 10, Ethan was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and put in PICU at Children’s Hospital. He was in DKA, diabetic keto acidosis. His blood sugar was 1129, his A1C was 13.6, and other lab work indicated that he was very, very sick. He spent 5 days in the hospital before being released.
Ethan is the same boy, for the most part. He still spends most days outside working on stuff. Only now he has the constant decisions and worries that come with being a Type 1. He has all the gadgets that we are very grateful for, the glucose monitor and the insulin pump, but even those fail at times and can be off by 15 to 30 minutes. Which means if Ethans blood sugar drops to a dangerous range, we may not know as quickly as we need to in order to correct it and bring it back up. Same if it goes too high. The sooner we know the better. Having a diabetic alert dog will not only be life changing but also life saving! We are so grateful that God placed it on Morgan’s heart, of Southern Momma Kennels, to donate an alert dog to Ethan. The peace of mind this will bring our whole family is something we’ll be forever thankful for.
We truly appreciate all the love, prayers, and support we have been given!)
We are so very grateful to get a donation from “Chance of a Lifetime” and Thomas Gause. They have offered to fund for Maggie’s first 6 weeks of training at Revolutionary Canine come May! We are so grateful for that!
We will still need to raise the money for her second 6 weeks of training. We will have a few fundraisers we will do for that.
Thank you to everyone for the help, support, donations, shares and prayers❤️ I truly couldn’t help these families without all of your help.
