Ok, I need some help!
About a month ago a family member took in this blue eyed beauty from a local boarding facility. She was surrendered to them by her owners, due to a lack of time for her. Unfortunately the boarding facility will not take her back, and it has become clear that she is not going to be a good fit for my family member. They have her in training, but the issues she has are too much for them to confidently and safely overcome.
Luna will be 4 years old in August, and is a beautiful blue merle Australian Shepherd. She is smart, energetic without being hyper, loves car rides, and absolutely loves her people. She learns fast, has a solid training foundation, and good recall. She is well mannered in the house and can be left out during the day without issues. She is potty trained and up to date on vaccinations.
Unfortunately Luna has resourced guarding issues with food around other dogs and small children. She is fantastic playing with other dogs…until food is involved. She can also sometimes get possessive of toys around other dogs. She has snapped at a small child over her food. She is nervous around strangers but fine once she knows them. Luna needs an experienced home that can work with her on her resource guarding issues, and preferably one with no other dogs or small children. We don’t know how she is living with cats.
Luna has been passed around now after being taken away from the only life she knew. She needs patience and a soft landing. Her current adopters have reacted out to the Australian Shepherd rescue and they will not take her. We are very open to other experienced rescues willing to take her. If her current adopters didn’t have 5 grandchildren and a busy social life, they wouldn’t hesitate to keep her, as she is wonderful besides her resource guarding issues.
If you are interested in adopting Luna, or currently work for a rescue that would take her, please shoot me a message and I will pass on any information!
Let’s get this girl the home she deserves!
