The Eva Burrell Animal Shelter is a 'quality of life' animal shelter in Manistique, Michigan, serving homeless, displaced, loveable cats and dogs in Schoolcraft County. MISSION STATEMENT: The Eva Burrell Animal Shelter (EBAS) believes that it has the ability and power to effect change one animal at a time. It is our goal to be worthy of their lives to be enriched by their presence and not to miss

the lessons they teach. We pledge to educate, to lead by example, to learn, to help when and where we can, to be diligent in our fundraising, and to be worthy of the trust placed in us. Fundraisers are continual each year, with some favorites being done repeatedly. We operate on a donation basis, with the County Board, City Council, and some Townships contributing a small portion each year towards the operating expenses of the animal shelter. The shelter building was opened in 1999, built by volunteers with donated material. All adopted cats and dogs are spayed or neutered; all cats and kittens are tested for feline leukemia and microchipped. All animals have been de-wormed and have had initial vaccinations. We welcome volunteers, both young and old. We always need 'walkers' for exercising the dogs, and laps for kitties to sit and nap on. And we always need donations, be it in money, food, kitty litter, treats, bedding, if unsure contact the Shelter. Compassion is paramount in Sheltering.
