Happy New Year from Elk Horn Corrals!
We hope you and your loved ones had a blessed holiday season. The Badlands might be tucked under snow and the wind may have a bite to it, but we’re already looking ahead to the 2026 season. Before long, spring will be rolling over these buttes, the ground will thaw, the horses will start shedding their winter coats, and the trails will be calling again.

This past weekend was nothing short of incredible. We were honored to welcome a wonderful group of riders—new friends whose horses filled the pens, whose trailers circled the camping area, and whose presence brought so much energy and joy to the place.
The weather couldn't have been better, and we made the most of every ride—from peaceful morning loops to breathtaking evening treks through lakefront trails and into the rugged beauty of the Badlands. The conversations, the laughter, and the shared stories made it feel like something truly special.

It might just be a North Dakota false spring, with Mother Nature playing tricks on us. But it's been a fantastic opportunity to hit the trails and soak up the great weather! Skunk Creek is fully open and flowing beautifully through the pastures, all the way down into Lake Sakakawea. Wildlife is on the move, and cows are gearing up for calving season.

There's no better time to plan your spring adventure! Come out and ride at Elk Horn Corrals and experience it all.
