We made it safely to Missouri for the Forever Branded Branded Bonanza 🤗

We arrived just in time for the trainers meeting and I was able to get Hondo into the main arena in hand, but unfortunately we didn’t have time to do much else. And honestly, after a long haul I like them to settled in longer than an hour before riding anyways.

Our first class in the morning is handling & conditioning. This is Hondo’s first show and first time in a busy environment such as this so I don’t have the highest of expectations. BUT he is a good boy who was thinking through the commotion tonight and while snorty, he wasn’t doing anything terrible and was trying really hard.

Raven and Suga got to walk around in the warm up pens but not the main arena. They don’t show until Sunday so they get to settle in much more than Hondo 😅.

Suga has been handling riding around another ridden horse much better these past few rides, but he still has his moments 😆

It’s been about a week with my new mustang for the Midwest Horse Fair Mustang challenge and I think I’ve finally settled on a name.

I’d like to officially introduce you guys to Lily🪷 She’s very similar personality to our one quarter horse who’s also named after a flower so I found it quite fitting. Plus it symbolizes purity, innocence, and beauty which all fit her to a T. She is a 4 year old out of Pancake, NV. However she was born in holding.

Lily has had it easy this past week as she is quite foot sore from being trimmed a bit too short, and I’ve been quite busy with a new full time job. I’m excited to bring this cool mustang along. I’m not sure they can get any sweeter than her!

With treats so tasty, who cares if the bag is a little crinkly and scary? The treats are worth it! 😉

There’s a lot of a value in a good pony horse and for years Raven has been a huge help with my young mustangs. I’ve posted a lot of the good about Suga, but one of his biggest battles has been seeing other horses ridden. I want to show some more of our struggles when I can. I think it’s important for people to see the different aspects of what training a young mustang can be!

Yesterday we hauled over to an arena to ride and after riding around with others he was doing much better but I decided to some ponying to help him hopefully relax being in close quarters with a ridden horse. After all, the competition will have a very small, very hectic warm up and he will need to be ok with horses riding all around him potentially even cutting him off. We all know how warm up pens can be😅.

Raven isn’t called in for ponying much, but when I need her she is always such a perfect partner to have for these horses that are unsure and want to pull back. She remains calm and unbothered while still listening to my cues. She earned herself a ton of scratches and all the treats 🙌🏻🙌🏻

On today’s episode of shenanigans with the new girl still to be named… she is obsessed with water. I haven’t had much time yet to do a lot with her so she has been hanging out and settling in to her new environment. I’d say she’s pretty darn relaxed!

Just wait until she learns all about Zero Proof Horse Treats! She’ll be getting into even more things🤣 Use my code ALLREN10 to order some of your own!
