🐾 Meet Izzy! 🐾

This adorable 5 month old Yorkshire Terrier mix recently paid us a visit after deciding a sago palm looked like a tasty snack. Thankfully, Izzy was an excellent patient throughout her treatment, and it didn't take long for her sweet personality to win over our entire team. Everyone absolutely loved her!

While sago palms are beautiful ornamental plants, they are extremely toxic to dogs. Every part of the plant contains cycasin, a toxin that can cause severe liver damage when ingested. Even a small amount can lead to vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, seizures, liver failure, and, in some cases, death.

If you suspect your pet has chewed on or eaten any part of a sago palm, seek veterinary care immediately. Early treatment can make all the difference.

We're so proud of sweet Izzy for being such a brave girl and wish her a speedy recovery!

Skully, the handsome German Shepherd belonging to one of our VSS receptionists, recently had a health scare after vomiting led to aspiration pneumonia. Sometimes when a dog vomits, material can accidentally enter the lungs, causing irritation and infection. Thankfully, Skully is doing great now and continuing to recover well.

We think he deserves some extra love and attention for being such a strong and handsome boy!

This Earth Day, we’re reminded that caring for animals goes hand in hand with caring for the planet they call home.

Healthy ecosystems support healthier lives, and even small, thoughtful choices can make a meaningful difference over time. By being more mindful of how we live and care for the world around us, we help create a safer, more sustainable future for animals and people alike.

Here’s to protecting our planet for every paw, hoof, and heart that depends on it.

Meet Nimbus, a brave 5 month old Pomeranian with a story of resilience.

Nimbus recently suffered a broken foot after being accidentally dropped by some kids while playing. It was a scary moment for such a tiny pup, but thankfully he was in great hands.

Dr. Kristen Gabriel stepped in and skillfully repaired his injury, giving Nimbus the chance to heal and get back to doing what he loves most, being a happy, playful puppy.

In his photo, Nimbus is sporting an inflatable e collar that looks more like a comfy little travel pillow than medical gear, adding a bit of charm to his recovery.

Wishing this little fighter a smooth recovery and lots of gentle cuddles along the way.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate a major milestone for our outstanding residents!

Dr. Haley Foster and Dr. Kristen Gabriel have successfully passed their board exams and are now board-certified surgeons, a tremendous achievement that reflects their dedication, skill, and commitment to excellence in patient care.

We also congratulate Dr. Tim Koors on passing his radiology boards and becoming a board-certified radiologist, an accomplishment made even more impressive as he is already a board-certified critical care specialist. Dr. Koors is now one of the few double board-certified specialist in the area, a truly remarkable distinction.

These achievements represent years of hard work, perseverance, and passion. We are honored to have such exceptional specialists on our team and look forward to the continued impact they will make in the lives of their patients and our community.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Foster, Dr. Gabriel, and Dr. Koors!
