Alexander Kurland was a change maker.

When I met Alexandra I was ripe for change and desperately eager to find a different way to train horses. Little did I know that meeting her would transform the trajectory of my career, as well as how I viewed the world, the questions I asked, the circles in which I traveled.
So I studied her methods. Read her books, listened to lectures.
When it was too far to travel to one of her clinics, I hosted one, then another.
Alex’s teaching didn’t stop in the barn or the classroom, but extended to the dinner table and often into the night. She loved what she did, was a devoted teacher and magical practitioner. Because of her I studied at KPA and when the horse world wasn’t ready to embrace clicker training, I branched into dog training.
Alex was skilled in the science of learning but also had “feel”; she was and expert in the gentle nuances of animal behavior and training.
Alex gave me a gift - the permission to go back to my roots and trust myself, my intuition, and allow the animals to be my guides. For this I am eternally thankful. Rest in peace Alexandra.
