The seasons are turning again.

Spring is softening its green edges into summer, and here in Texas, that means we begin our yearly dance with the sun. Early morning rides. Late evening lessons. Shifting schedules, checking the shade, listening to the horses, and finding the quiet hours before the heat settles heavy over the day.

There is something sacred about these mornings beneath the oak trees — the first gold light slipping through the branches, the barn slowly waking, the horses breathing into a new day.

Summer may ask us to move differently, but the work continues. Softer. Earlier. Slower when needed. Always with the horse first.

Welcome to the turning of the season at Austin Saddle Club. 🌿

Whoa There Wednesday ⏰🐴

Adult ammys, gather round. It’s time for a very serious and scientific discussion:

What do you do when life gives you exactly 37 minutes, one dirty horse, three goals, and a suspicious amount of guilt?

Do you:

A) Call the trainer and say, “Please remind my horse they also have to work for a living while I pretend to have control of my schedule.”

B ) Groom like it’s a full spiritual reset and remind yourself connection time is important for BOTH of you.

C) Do a quick in-hand session and feel wildly accomplished.

D) Procrastinate until nothing gets done, but, you know….

E) Somehow do all of the above and still forget to clean your tack.

Adult amateur life is not for the faint of heart. Between work, family, bills, weather, and the emotional damage of realizing your horse has more free time than you do… we’re all just out here trying our best.

So tell us: when time is tight, what’s your go-to barn move?
No judgment. Unless you say you “just don’t feel guilty.” Then we need to study you. 😂

Thoughtful Thursday: the horse world loves big moments. We love the quiet ones that make them possible.

One of the hardest lessons in horsemanship is learning to respect and find comfort in time.

Time for a horse to understand.
Time for a rider to feel.
Time for both to soften.
Time to trust the process.

In a world that celebrates fast results, horses remind us that real progress is often quiet. In Western Dressage, in Mounted Archery, and in every honest lesson in between, the magic is usually found in the small things. Better timing, a softer hand, a deeper breath, a braver try.

Not every win is flashy.
Sometimes the win is relaxation.
Sometimes the win is clarity.
Sometimes the win is simply that horse and rider leave better than they came.

That kind of growth is worth protecting. And worth waiting for.

As we’ve just reached 2,000+ followers here at Austin Saddle Club, this feels like a meaningful moment to reflect on what we value most. We are so grateful for every person who is here for the quiet work, the thoughtful process, and training that honors true partnership over pressure. 🤍

Austin said, “Y’all wanted rain?” and then absolutely lost its mind.

After years of drought, we have now arrived at that special horse-person dilemma of somehow having both not enough rain and entirely too much rain. The grass is grateful, the outdoor arena is auditioning to be an aquarium, and apparently we are now offering dolphin sightings as part of the experience.

The good news? We do have a dry covered arena, and lessons are still rolling right along. So if you’ve been thinking about signing up mounted archery, western dressage, or classical dressage, now is a pretty fine time to come ride without needing flippers.

Message us to get on the schedule. 🐴🌧️🐬

Our first in house Intro Mounted Archery clinic of 2026 was such a good one. 🏹

We loved getting to welcome beginner mounted archers into the sport and watch them build confidence shot by shot. There is nothing quite like seeing riders try something new, trust the process, and leave feeling stronger than when they arrived.

If Mounted Archery has been on your “maybe someday” list, let this be your nudge. Come join us at Austin Saddle Club with Texas Mounted Archery and give it a shot.

🐴 Horse of the Week — Tango

Say hello to Tango, the newest addition to our team.

This handsome boy is a Criollo × Hanoverian cross, bringing together resilience, intelligence, and athleticism in one very promising package.

Tango will be joining both our dressage and mounted archery programs, and we’re excited to see him grow into his role here at the barn.

There’s something special about a new horse stepping into a program; new partnerships, new lessons, and a whole story still waiting to unfold.

We’re looking forward to everyone getting to know him.
