Brooke is back from a much needed beach vacation just to find herself at the vet with one of the rescue bunnies she took in 2 weeks ago! Send good thoughts our way and that we can save this fluffy bun bun!

We also want to give a HUGE shoutout to Destynee, our amazing instructor! šŸ’• She has been out there running the program, teaching lessons, and stepping up to help in every way possible while Brooke is away on vacation and maternity leave.
We truly have the BEST crew around, and we are so grateful for everyone who goes above and beyond to keep everything running smoothly! šŸ„°šŸ™Œ

We can’t thank Dallas, our amazing farm hand, enough for stepping up and taking care of our crazy crew while Brooke enjoys a much-needed vacation! šŸ“ā¤ļø
This week wouldn’t have been possible without Dallas making sure everyone is cared for and keeping things running smoothly. The crew has definitely given him a run for his paycheck, but he’s handled it all like a true pro! šŸ˜‚
We are so incredibly happy to have Dallas as part of the Stars & Strides Team! We appreciate you more than you know, Dallas! āļøšŸŽ

Can you help us help Montana?

Sweet, patient and talented Montana…bless his dappled heart! He’s breaking our budget these days! Can you help us raise extra funds to cover his medical expenses?

His recent sarcoid (skin cancer) removal was more significant and more expensive than we planned. The sarcoid was larger than expected and close to invading a major blood vessel. We’ve posted the only photo that’s even close to safe for FB! The surgery was successful despite this and our vet did an awesome job.

HOWEVER…Montanaā€˜s pain meds made him a wee bit loopy! Being the jumper that he is, he decided that stall rest was not for him! He took a giant leap from standing and made it over a 4.5 tall stall front, blowing out all his stitches! This horse needs to take a trip to Ocala!! An emergency vet call, more meds and directed care later and we are out of cash! He’s still pending having his blind eye removed, so more bills are coming.

We need all the help we can get right now! A couple folks have jumped in and helped already, but our outstanding bill still stands at $600 with more to come. If you can help, please use the link below for a tax exempt donation to Stars and Strides for Montana’s care. You will automatically be sent a tax receipt for your donation!

We are so grateful for any help you can give, for your support in general and for your thoughts and prayers for Montana’s recovery!

If they can’t walk and steer, they can’t trot and steer.
If they can’t balance at the trot, they aren’t ready to canter.
If they can’t go catch their own horse, groom it, tack it up and take responsibility for it, how are they supposed to lead that horse from the saddle?

Going faster does not equal getting better. Strapping your kid to a horse and sending them into the arena isn’t making them better, it’s setting them up to get hurt.

You might think watching your kid walk circles isn’t exciting. You might think they should be cantering, jumping ā€œdoing more.ā€

But sometimes they’re simply not ready.

And respectfully — that’s why you hired an instructor. Because knowing how and when to progress a rider is our job.

We aren’t holding your kid back. We’re building the foundation that keeps them safe and makes them GOOD.

Today was an interesting day at the farm! Montana was on stall rest after his first surgery yesterday but somehow managed to jump the stall wall and get loose, in the process he busted all his stitches open and the vet had to come. He could not be stitched back together so he will just have to heal with a open wound, he’s back out to pasture, but while Destynee was still around he decided to take a gate off the hinges and free his little goaty friends who enjoyed some grass as Destynee had to wrangle them back up. We can’t thank those enough that came by to help with Montana as we waited for emergency vet to come and for those who helped get another piece of wood on a stall in case Montana has to be stalled again hopefully he can’t jump it this time!
