We picked up cats for spay/neuter yesterday in Bryson City. While at one location, this guy showed up wobbling, barely able to walk.

He crawled into a cat shelter and collapsed.

We were able to net him - he was so sick he didn't have any fight in him.

We suspected he might be succumbing to feline leukemia. He was skin and bones and had clearly been suffering for some time.

Feline leukemia was confirmed with a snap test, then a blood serum test. We did the only kind thing we could do for him and let him go peacefully.

Thank you to Dr. Lord and Asheville Veterinary Associates West for making room to help this boy today.

Rest easy, handsome boy.
