Animal Medical Center will be CLOSED Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day.

Today, we pause for the pets who may no longer be beside us, but will forever be a part of our hearts. ❤️🐾 Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day is observed each year on August 28 as a time to remember beloved pets who have passed away.

Some pets leave paw prints on our hearts that time can never erase.

☀️🐾 HAPPY THURSDAY, PET PARENTS! 🐾☀️

August heat is no joke—and our pets feel it too! 🥵🐶🐱

Before heading outside with your furry family member, keep these summer safety tips in mind:

💧 FRESH WATER: Make sure clean, cool water is always available.

🌞 WATCH THE HEAT: Try walks and outdoor activities during the cooler morning or evening hours.

🔥 CHECK THE GROUND: If the pavement is too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for your pet’s paws!

🚗 NEVER LEAVE A PET IN A CAR: Even with the windows cracked, temperatures can become dangerously hot very quickly.

🏡 PROVIDE SHADE & COOL SPACE: Make sure your pet has somewhere comfortable to escape the heat.

⚠️ KNOW THE WARNING SIGNS: Heavy panting, excessive drooling, weakness, vomiting, confusion, or collapse can be signs of overheating. If you suspect your pet is overheating, move them to a cool area and contact us or seek emergency veterinary care immediately.

A little prevention goes a LONG way toward keeping those tails wagging all summer long! ❤️🐾

🐶🎉 HAPPY INTERNATIONAL/NATIONAL DOG DAY! 🎉🐶

Today is all about celebrating those wet noses, wagging tails, sloppy kisses, goofy zoomies, and unconditional love that make our lives so much better! ❤️🐾

Dogs aren’t just pets…
They’re our family. 🥰

They listen without judging.
They love without conditions.
They make the bad days better and the good days unforgettable.
And somehow, they can make us laugh just by doing absolutely NOTHING. 😂🐶

Today we’re celebrating the incredible dogs who may experience the world a little differently—but whose ability to love, play, learn, and enjoy life is anything but limited! 🐶💕

Blind dogs can live happy, fulfilling lives with the right support, patience, and a little extra understanding. Their other senses—especially smell and hearing—help them navigate their world, and with a predictable environment and loving humans by their side, many blind dogs learn to move through life with amazing confidence.

🐾 A few ways to help a blind dog thrive:

🏡 Keep furniture, food, water, and pathways in consistent places.
🗣️ Use calm verbal cues so your dog knows where you are.
🚧 Block off stairs and other potentially dangerous areas when needed.
❤️ Use positive reinforcement and celebrate their successes.
⏰ Keep routines predictable to help build confidence.
🐕 Give them opportunities to sniff, explore, play, and simply be a dog!

And for our sighted dogs who become best friends, protectors, playmates, and companions to their visually impaired buddies—we celebrate you, too! 🥰

But regular veterinary visits are an important part of keeping your kitty healthy! Routine exams can help us catch changes and potential problems early—before they become bigger concerns. 🩺🐾

🐾 Tips for a Safer, Less Stressful Trip:

👜 Use a secure carrier
Choose a sturdy, well-ventilated carrier that is large enough for your cat to comfortably lie down and turn around. Make sure all doors and latches are securely closed.

🛏️ Make the carrier feel familiar
Add a favorite blanket or towel that smells like home. If your cat is nervous about the carrier, leaving it out at home with treats or toys can help create a more positive association.

😻 Keep things calm
A quiet voice, gentle handling, and a light towel over part of the carrier can help reduce visual stimulation and stress while still allowing plenty of ventilation.
