🔥 Yesterday we talked about the signs of heat stroke. Today, let's talk about what NOT to do if you suspect your dog is overheating! 🐶☀️

🚫 Don't put your dog in an ice bath or use ice-cold water. Cooling them too quickly can actually make things worse.

🚫 Don't wrap them in wet towels and leave them. Towels can trap heat against the body.

🚫 Don't force water if they're weak, vomiting, or unable to swallow normally.

🚫 Don't wait to see if they improve on their own. Heat stroke can cause serious internal damage even if your pet seems to perk up.

🚫 Don't skip the vet visit. Even if your dog appears better after cooling down, they should still be evaluated by a veterinarian.

✅ Move them to a cool area.
✅ Use cool (not cold) water and fans.
✅ Contact a veterinarian immediately.

As temperatures climb, our furry friends can overheat much faster than we do. Heat stroke is a life-threatening emergency that can happen in just minutes.

• Excessive panting
• Drooling
• Bright red gums
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Weakness or collapse
• Confusion or stumbling

🐾 One of the questions we hear most often is, "How do I know when it's time?"

Deciding when to say goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the hardest decisions any pet owner will ever face. There is rarely a perfect answer or a perfect moment.

We encourage families to focus on their pet's quality of life:
❤️ Are they still enjoying their favorite things?
❤️ Are they comfortable most days?
❤️ Are they eating, drinking, and interacting with family?
❤️ Do the good days still outnumber the bad?

Remember, choosing euthanasia is not giving up. It is often the final act of love and kindness we can give a pet who has spent a lifetime loving us.

LETS GIVE THESE GIRLS A CHANCE!!!
These two babies were saved from the fire this morning. They made it out with just singed eyebrows and missing whiskers. 🐾 Caring for a Sick Small Breed Puppy 🐾

When your tiny pup isn't feeling their best, offering small, frequent meals can help keep their energy up and prevent low blood sugar. Many sick small-breed puppies do better eating every 2–4 hours rather than large meals.

Keep an eye out for:
🐶 Refusing food
🐶 Vomiting or diarrhea
🐶 Weakness or lethargy
🐶 Shaking or acting unsteady

If your puppy isn't eating, can't keep food down, or seems to be getting worse, don't wait—seek veterinary care right away. Small puppies can become dehydrated and develop low blood sugar very quickly.
