🐾 Caring for a Sick Small Breed Puppy 🐾

When your tiny pup isn't feeling their best, offering small, frequent meals can help keep their energy up and prevent low blood sugar. Many sick small-breed puppies do better eating every 2–4 hours rather than large meals.

Keep an eye out for:
🐶 Refusing food
🐶 Vomiting or diarrhea
🐶 Weakness or lethargy
🐶 Shaking or acting unsteady

If your puppy isn't eating, can't keep food down, or seems to be getting worse, don't wait—seek veterinary care right away. Small puppies can become dehydrated and develop low blood sugar very quickly.

We're here to help your little ones get back to feeling their best! ❤️

🧸 Why We Caution Against Rope Toys 🐶

Many dogs love rope toys, but they can come with hidden risks! When ropes start to fray, dogs may swallow the strands while chewing or playing tug.

These strings can cause a serious intestinal blockage or even become a "linear foreign body," where the string bunches up inside the intestines and can lead to severe damage requiring surgery.

🚩 Watch for signs such as:
• Vomiting
• Loss of appetite
• Lethargy
• Abdominal pain
• Straining to p**p

🐱🦠 It’s Kitten Season… and Panleukopenia Season Too! 🦠🐱

Feline panleukopenia (often called feline distemper) is essentially the kitten version of parvo in puppies. It is a highly contagious and potentially life-threatening virus that primarily affects young, unvaccinated kittens.

⚠️ Signs to watch for:
• Severe lethargy
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Loss of appetite
• Fever
• Dehydration

💉 Just like parvo, the best protection is vaccination.

If your kitten is not eating, seems very tired, or has vomiting or diarrhea, it is important to seek veterinary care right away. Early treatment can greatly improve the chances of recovery.

At Urgent Care Veterinary Partners, we are here to help your tiny feline friends when they need urgent medical attention. 🐾💙

🦴😮 This curious puppy got a little too enthusiastic with a bone, and it became stuck in the roof of his mouth!

While bones can seem like a fun treat, pieces can sometimes get wedged between the teeth or across the upper jaw, causing pain and making it difficult for your pup to eat or close their mouth comfortably.

Signs something may be stuck in your pet’s mouth:
• Pawing at the mouth
• Drooling excessively
• Difficulty eating
• Crying or acting painful
• Keeping the mouth open

The good news? Our team at Urgent Care Veterinary Partners can safely remove stuck bones and help your pup feel better in no time! 🩺✨
