It’s , and these adorable animals are ready to steal the spotlight (and maybe a spot on your couch, too)!

While they may be spending their days in loving foster homes, they’re still looking for their next chapter. Thanks to their foster families, we’ve gotten a closer look at their unique personalities, favorite pastimes, and all the little quirks that make them so special.

Could one of these cuties be your perfect match? Give our Adoption Center a call at (608) 838-0413 ext. 145 to schedule a meeting with one of our animals in foster.

Not seeing "the one" in this post? Don’t worry! We have lots of other amazing animals waiting to meet you. Check out ALL of our adoptable animals on our website at the link in the comments.

It's and we're celebrating the students and staff at Ezekiel Gillespie Middle School! They recently organized a creative and compassionate fundraiser to benefit the animals in our care.

As part of the effort, classrooms participated in a door decorating competition, transforming hallways into colorful displays while raising awareness and collecting donations for homeless pets. In addition to donating a huge collection of in-kind items for the animals, the school raised more than $400 in monetary donations. Those funds can help DCHS purchase even more essential supplies, enrichment items, and care products for animals waiting for their new homes.

Thank you, Ezekiel Gillespie Middle School, for showing what a caring community can accomplish when it comes together to help animals in need!

Today’s Pet-entially Yours segment on News 3 Now / Channel 3000 featured an especially adorable guest: Periwinkle.

Periwinkle is a 2-month-old Border Collie mix who is friendly, affectionate, and very curious about the world around her. She may start off a little shy, but once she feels comfortable, her playful side starts to come out. Periwinkle came to DCHS on a transfer from an overcrowded shelter in Mississippi last week and is hoping to find a family who will continue her training, help her build confidence, and give her lots of love and treats.

Our Adoption Center opens at noon tomorrow (6/12), so stop by and ask to meet Periwinkle. She might just be your new best friend!

Dane County Humane Society's Wildlife Center is having a busy season so far! We’re grateful for everyone’s compassion and willingness to help wildlife. Before bringing an animal to the Wildlife Center, we're sharing their post of what steps to take first.

Thank you for helping us help wildlife!

A couple weeks ago we got 72 animals in one weekend (!) and almost all of those animals did not have an appointment. If you find a wild animal in need and do not know what to do, please follow our checklist below! ✅

First, give us a call at (608) 287-3235 and then leave a detailed voicemail.

We will call or text you back advice, a referral, or an admission appointment.

We understand how stressful it can be when you find a wild animal in need and are unsure of how to help, but it helps us immensely to have people call first before coming to the Wildlife Center. That way we can receive and give all the necessary information, and space out our admissions.

We will do our best to get back to you in a timely manner to help in any way we can.

Thank you for caring for Wisconsin Wildlife! 🐾

Fully charged and ready for adoption, Charger made his TV debut on WMTV 15 News this morning as their Pet of the Week!

This 2-month-old Great Pyrenees mix is a playful, energetic puppy with a curious mind. He's active, smart, and loves treats and toys, and he is always ready to see what is happening around him. When he's finished exploring and playing, he's more than happy to settle in for a cozy nap. Charger is looking for a family that will continue his training, give him plenty of love and attention, and enjoy all the fun that comes with a growing puppy.

Think Charger is the pup for you? Our Adoption Center opens tomorrow (6/11) at noon. Stop by and ask to meet him!

It looks like we're in for some HOT days this week, so we wanted to provide a reminder of the dangers of excessive heat.

Even the healthiest pets can suffer from dehydration and heatstroke if exposed to extremely high temperatures and humidity. Make sure your pets are in a safe, cool location with plenty of water and never leave your pet alone inside a vehicle.

To keep your pet safe and healthy during the summer heat:

🌡️ Watch out for heatstroke
💧 Give your pet extra water
🧊 Offer your pet several ways to cool off
🚗 NEVER leave your pet alone inside a car
🌅 Take your walks in the morning or evening
🏡 Don't leave your dog alone outside for more than a few minutes
🐾 Avoid hot sidewalks
🪮 Brush your pet regularly
🚙 Be alert for coolant leaking from your vehicle

For more information (including how to tell if your pet is suffering from heatstroke), visit the link in the comments!

Happy tails are officially underway!

Another group of Ridglan Farms beagles took their first steps into a whole new world as they headed home with their adopters. We're excited to share that every beagle from this most recent group who remained at DCHS for adoption has now found a new family.

For many of these dogs, everything is new. Cozy beds. Soft toys. Neighborhood walks. Couches. Backyards. Families. It's a big, exciting adventure, and we're so grateful to the adopters who have opened their hearts and homes to help these dogs discover all the joys that come with being a beloved companion.

Every beagle's journey will look a little different, and there will be lots of learning, growing, and new experiences along the way. There may be a few bumps in the road, but there will also be plenty of tail wags, milestones, and moments worth celebrating.

Congratulations to these lucky pups and the people who chose to give them the fresh start they deserve. We can't wait to see all the wonderful memories they'll make together.

For this with City Cast Madison, we'd like you to meet Mister Moose. This 3-year-old was transferred to DCHS at the end of May from an overcrowded shelter in Texas. Mister Moose is an energetic, nearly 50-pound pup who loves playing fetch, romping around the yard, and enjoying all kinds of toys. He’s treat-motivated and sits like a pro. He also leans in for pets. Because Mister Moose gets excitement by life, staff and volunteers have been working with him to keep his paws on the ground. Mister Moose is looking for a home without children, cats, or critters, and a family who will continue to work with him on his positive reinforcement training while also spoiling him with fun adventures, playtime, and love. Mister Moose is staying in a quieter area at DCHS, so ask about him in the Adoption Center.
