41 DOG INTAKE - BREEDER CLOSURE
Early Friday morning our team headed out to one of the largest dog surrenders from a single property we've ever dealt with. A puppy mill closed its doors, handed over its license, and voluntarily released all dogs on the property to Shelter From The Storm Animal Rescue. With the help of our incredible partner Shayla, we pulled off the unimaginable - ensuring all 41 dogs went to rescue where their medical needs will be addressed, their babies cared for, and they will all be spayed/neutered to end the cycle of irresponsible breeding for profit.
Many of these dogs are seniors, with horrible dental disease that needs to be addressed. We also welcomed 4 nursing moms, who we are urgently seeking foster homes for. The longer haired dogs are extensively matted, and many of the bostons are missing pieces of their ears, potentially from infighting. Although we'll never know exactly what they endured, we're grateful the breeder did the right thing and asked for help, ensuring these dogs will receive the care they deserve.
As is often true in rescue, this was unexpected. Less than 48 hours after being notified we were unloading dogs at our shelter, completing intake exams, vaccinating, and providing treatment to these dogs. Although understandably overwhelmed, these dogs are amazingly gentle and sweet. Because of how fast everything happened, we had little time to plan and gather necessary supplies and funding. Now that we have everyone settled, we're asking for your help to care for this massive intake. We've updated our wishlist, are in need of additional foster homes, and have a growing list of care needs to address.

A big thank you to our team, for the long hours put in and heart displayed these last few days. And thank you to all of you, who continue to support our mission and allow us the priviledge of taking on cases such as these. We truly couldn't do it without you. There will be many more updates to share, so keep an eye on our page for more information and ways to help these 41 sweet souls!
