🐾 Morgan County Dog Adventures – Trail Day at Hard Labor Creek! 🌲
Look who’s hitting the trails — Lily the Unicorn!
Today Lily enjoyed a beautiful hike at Hard Labor Creek State Park with her foster mom Jennifer and foster sister Gemma (a proud Animal Services alum!). The girls had a wonderful time walking the boardwalks, exploring the woods, and soaking up the peaceful nature around the lake.
Lily is a young, sweet, and adventurous girl who is great with people and kids. She’s clearly thriving in a foster home and ready to find her forever family. As Jennifer said: “We’d better find her a home quickly before I get too attached!”
If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate dog who loves hikes, snuggles, and being part of the family, Lily might be the one!
The shelter is still full, and dogs like Lily deserve homes where they can enjoy adventures like this every week.
Will be spayed before heading home, vaccinated, and microchipped.
Come meet Lily this week:
M-F, 9 AM–4 PM at 2392 Athens Highway, Madison, GA
Call (706) 752-1195

🐾 Morgan County Dog Adventures – Parks & Recreation Day! ⚾
Today 3½-year-old Thor had a great visit to the Morgan County Parks & Recreation facility! He explored the grounds, checked out the baseball fields, and enjoyed the beautiful outdoor space with two of our wonderful partners from the department.
Thor is a strong, handsome pit bull with a big heart. He’s great with people and other dogs (but not a fan of cats). He has good energy for an active lifestyle and showed off his friendly, confident personality while out on this adventure.
Special thanks to:
Caroline Sandhagen, Athletics and Programs (on the right) and Kimberly Rabun, Administrative Assistant. Both were kind enough to spend time with Thor and show him around!
The shelter is still overflowing, and wonderful dogs like Thor deserve active homes where they can enjoy parks, playtime, and everyday life in Morgan County.
Will be neutered before heading home, vaccinated, and microchipped.
Come meet Thor this week:
M-F, 9 AM–4 PM at 2392 Athens Highway, Madison, GA

🐾 Morgan County Dog Adventures – Library Day! 📚
Today Gunther (our sweet 2½-year-old blue-and-white pit bull mix) had a wonderful visit to the Morgan County Library with library employee Hope Brown!
Gunther is 47 pounds of pure gentleness. Although he can be a little shy when meeting new people, once he feels safe he opens up with the kindest heart — leaning in for cuddles, staying calmly by your side, and showing complete loyalty and affection. He handled the new environment beautifully and was a perfect gentleman during his library outing.
The Morgan County Library is such a special community hub, and seeing Gunther calmly exploring the grounds really showed what a wonderful, calm companion he would be for someone who wants a loyal best friend.
Gunther has been patiently waiting almost a year for his forever family. He’s ready to stop waiting and start belonging.
The shelter is still full, and dogs like Gunther deserve homes where they can feel safe, loved, and part of everyday life — including peaceful library visits and quiet moments at home.
Will be neutered before heading home, vaccinated, and microchipped.
Come meet Gunther this week:
M-F, 9 AM–4 PM at 2392 Athens Highway, Madison, GA
Call (706) 752-1195

🐾 Morgan County Dog Adventures – Church Kids Edition!
Yesterday sweet Lily had a wonderful visit with the children at First Kids at Madison First United Methodist Church!
This young, happy girl was an absolute star. She was gentle, patient, and clearly loved all the attention from the kids. Lily wagged her tail through every greeting, handled all the excitement with calm sweetness, and proved once again what a fantastic dog she is around children of all ages.
First Kids provides a loving, faith-based environment for children in our community, and seeing Lily interact so beautifully with them warmed everyone’s hearts. She showed that she has the perfect temperament for a family with kids — playful yet gentle, energetic but well-mannered.
The shelter is still overflowing, and wonderful dogs like Lily deserve homes where they can be part of everyday life — including church activities, family outings, and making kids smile every day.
Will be spayed before heading home, vaccinated, and microchipped.

🐾 Morgan County Dog Adventures – Town Park Edition!
Today big, beautiful Mowgli (4 years old, 80 pounds) took a relaxing walk through Madison Town Park and absolutely stole the show at the historic Cooke Fountain!
This strong, handsome Shar Pei mix has the heart of a teddy bear. Despite his impressive size and powerful build, Mowgli has the sweetest, gentlest disposition. He loves people, walks beautifully on leash, and just wants to be someone’s loyal companion. (He’s not a fan of cats, but he’s great with people and other dogs when properly introduced. After playing in the park, he rested with Eddie in front of the infamous James Madison Inn (to be featured later).
Madison Town Park is the perfect downtown gathering spot — with the iconic Cooke Fountain, Victorian gazebo, picnic areas, and open green space for community events and quiet enjoyment. Watching Mowgli stand so calmly and confidently by the fountain really showed how well he could fit into everyday life in Morgan County.
Unfortunately, his big size sometimes scares people off — but those who take the time to meet him quickly discover what a loving, gentle giant he truly is.
The shelter is still overflowing, and wonderful dogs like Mowgli are waiting for someone brave enough to see past his strong appearance and welcome his sweet heart into their home.
Will be neutered before heading home, vaccinated, and microchipped.
Come meet Mowgli this week:
M-F, 9 AM–4 PM at 2392 Athens Highway, Madison, GA
Call (706) 752-1195

Morgan County Dog Adventures – Farm & Livestock Edition!
Today Olivia had a wonderful outing at the Morgan County Agricultural Center with our Lead Volunteer, Eddie!
This beautiful facility is the heartbeat of Morgan County’s agricultural life — home to livestock shows, rodeos, horse events, 4-H and FFA activities, farm safety programs, and so much more. Olivia clearly enjoyed the wide-open spaces, fresh country air, and exploring the grounds right alongside Eddie.
Olivia is a sweet, curious, and friendly girl who handled the new environment with calm confidence. She’d make a fantastic companion for an active family that loves the outdoors, county events, and weekend adventures around Morgan County.
The shelter is still overflowing, and dogs like Olivia deserve real homes where they can enjoy everything our county has to offer — from downtown strolls to farm fields and local events.
Will be spayed before heading home, vaccinated, and microchipped.

🐾 Morgan County Dog Adventures – Coffee Shop Companion Edition! ☕
Today Jax joined this lovely young woman for a relaxing morning at The Sinclair in historic downtown Madison — the beautifully restored former gas station on the Square that’s become one of his favorite spots for unhurried moments.
Jax, our sweet Doberman mix, is the ultimate hugger. He’s gentle, well-behaved, and loves nothing more than leaning in for a good cuddle or resting his head on your lap while you enjoy your coffee. He walked calmly through the sidewalks, smelled the roses, politely greeted passersby, and was perfectly content sitting beside the outdoor tables soaking up the downtown vibes.
The Sinclair offers expertly brewed coffee, fresh pastries, and a lovely selection of light plates — the perfect place to picture lazy weekend mornings with a dog like Jax by your side.
This handsome, affectionate boy is still waiting for his forever family. He’d thrive in a home where he can give and receive all the love and gentle companionship he craves.
The shelter is still overflowing, and dogs like Jax deserve real homes where they can enjoy everyday Morgan County life — like coffee dates on the Square.
Will be neutered before heading home, vaccinated, and microchipped.
Come meet Jax this week:
M-F, 9 AM–4 PM at 2392 Athens Highway, Madison, GA
