We are an all-breed companion animal rescue and affordable vet clinic in Madison, Wisconsin.

📧 EMAIL us at [email protected] with all questions to reach us directly! We place animals in our volunteer foster homes so they can get all they need while they await their forever homes. Animals do not reside at our office or clinic; they live in our volunteer foster homes. We offer full-service, non emergency veterinary care Monday-Friday. We provide spays, neuters, dental care, and other surgical services for cats and dogs. We also offer wellness health services (annual exams, vaccines, blood work, microchips, etc). Our clinic sees our Underdog animals, and is also open to the public. We offer lower-cost spay/neuter services to everyone, but help with other health services on a sliding scale basis. It's not every day we get to introduce a lady quite like SNICKERS! 🐹💕

She's cute, she's confident, she's got opinions, and she's certainly not afraid to share them! At approximately 3 years old, Snickers knows what she wants in life and isn't shy about making her needs known. Politely, of course. She's a lady, after all! 💅

We thought we'd let her introduce herself, one letter at a time!

🐾 S – Sweet! As sweet as her name, with a personality that'll steal your heart! 💕

🐾 N – Not shy! This girl has confidence to spare.

🐾 I – Independent! A lady who knows what she wants.

🐾 C – Confident! Did we mention that? Because Snickers would like us to emphasize it.

🐾 K – Keeper! One look at that adorable face and you'll understand why.

Gooooood morning from a couple of cutie patooties who would LOVE to greet you every morning! ☀️🐾 (And lunchtime, dinnertime, bedtime… you get the idea 😉)

Bruce and Jackson are two adorable 3–4 month old kittens sporting the most mesmerizing gray coats and faces that make it nearly impossible to get anything done. Seriously, just look at them! 😍

These boys have the whole kitten routine figured out. Play hard, sneak in a cuddle and a nap, wake up to “help” with whatever you're doing (whether you asked for help or not 🤣), and repeat!

They're at that fun age where EVERYTHING is exciting. A toy? Amazing. A cardboard box? Even better. You trying to fold laundry? Not without their supervision!

Bruce and Jackson are ready to trade their foster digs for forever homes where they can grow up being someone's favorite little shadows. ❤️

🐶 HAPPY TAILS UPDATE: PENELOPE LANE! 🐾❤️

We have the BEST news to share, but first—a quick reminder of what foster care is really all about. Fostering isn’t always easy. It can be hard, emotional, and undeniably bittersweet when it’s time to say goodbye. But ask any foster family and they will tell you: it is worth it every single time.
And nobody knows that better than Penelope’s foster team!

Miss Penelope—now officially Penelope Lane (aka Penny Lane, Penny P, Pen Pen, Wiggle Baby, Smushy Face)—has been with her incredible forever family in a foster-to-adopt placement since April while awaiting medical clearance. After months of rehab, her vet team decided she is doing so great after her left hip surgery that she doesn't even need the second FHO on her right hip!

With her medical needs fully resolved: SHE IS OFFICIALLY ADOPTED! 🎉

Her foster moms, who poured so much love into her recovery, are experiencing real separation anxiety missing her smooshy face, her hilarious "woowoos," and her unforgettable presence. But they couldn't be happier knowing she's in her ultimate dream home!

Penny Lane is being worshipped like the tiny orthopedic princess she is with:
✨ An incredible, loving family
✨ 3 fur-siblings (including TWO Underdog alumni!)
✨ Matching collars & orthopedic beds galore
✨ Daily face and ear noms (her adopters confirm: she is 100% edible!)
✨ Unlimited snuggle-smush sessions

Her foster families joked that if she were ever returned, they'd be fighting to keep her forever themselves! But fortunately, she is settled right where she belongs. (And word on the street is her new mom might have a new favorite child... shhh! 😉)

Penny Lane, you stole everyone's heart, but you permanently adopted yourself into ours. Happy forever, sweet girl! 🏠💕

It’s TRANSPORT DAY! 🚐🐾

Today we welcomed a whole new crew of Underdogs from Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia! Dogs, puppies, cats and kittens all made the trip north and are officially settling into their foster homes. ❤️

For them, today is the start of something new. New surroundings, new people, comfy beds, full bellies, and eventually—the forever homes they’ve been waiting for.

We’re so thankful for our southern rescue partners who cared for these animals before they ever reached us. Transport is truly a team effort from beginning to end, and we couldn’t do this without them.

And we couldn’t do it without fosters.

Every animal on that transport needed someone here to say, “They can stay with me.” Those simple yeses are what allow us to keep bringing animals north and helping our partners make room for the next ones who need them.

We want to keep those vans moving. We want to keep saying yes. And to do that, we need more foster homes.

Pecan is a little bit sweet, a little bit nutty, and a whole lot of puppy. 🥜

This goofy boy loves to wrestle and play, and he’s never one to turn down a good chew session with a bone treat. Add a little peanut butter and you’ve pretty much made his day.

In the middle of all that puppy chaos, Pecan has a habit of flopping right onto his back for belly rubs—as if playtime simply cannot continue until the belly has been properly scratched. And once he’s finally worn himself out, his cuddly side comes out and he’s more than happy to settle in close.

Pecan still has plenty of puppy things to learn, plenty of growing to do, and probably plenty of mischief to get into along the way.

Now he just needs a family to grow up with, a good supply of belly rubs, and maybe a jar of peanut butter with his name on it. ❤️

Can you look at a photo and just know there’s something special about a dog?

Because that’s how we feel about Ember. ❤️

Maybe it’s those beautiful eyes. Maybe it’s the sweet little face. We haven’t even welcomed her to Wisconsin yet and somehow we already know—this is a girl we’re going to love.

Ember arrives tomorrow, but we couldn’t resist giving you a little sneak peek tonight.

She’s 6 years old, a petite 25 pounds, and from everything we know about her so far, she’s a lower-energy girl who isn’t asking for much. Love her. Cuddle her. Give her your attention. Let her be close to her people. That’s pretty much Ember’s perfect day.

Tomorrow she becomes an Underdog.

Tonight, you get to fall in love with her a little early. ❤️

See you tomorrow, Ember. We have a feeling you’re going to be a special one.

This weekend: No-fee adoption day! 🐶🐱✨

We're teaming up with the ASPCA for — because when you adopt one animal, you save many. 🧡

On October 10th, all dogs and cats five months or older can be adopted for $0. This applies to our in-person event AND pets adopted as usual through our foster network/online. 🙌

Every adoption frees space and resources for the next pet in need, so if you've been looking for your new best friend, now is the perfect time.

What’s better than one stubby dog? TWO! Check out this bonded pair 🥰

Ziggy and Magnus are a dynamic duo looking for their forever home! Magnus (black and white babe) is 8 years old and plays more of the leader role in this pair ❤️

Magnus is a grade A couch snuggler while you are watching TV or reading. He will give you kisses (don't worry, his teeth have been cleaned!) and follow you about the house when he's not napping. He's a low energy, easygoing guy. 😊

Ziggy (brown cutie- and only 4 years old) is a bit more of the worry wort- every great duo has one! He needs a bit more time to settle in and feel safe! Being sausage shaped and all he loves a good belly rub and follows Magnus’ direction with couch snuggles 💕
