Nothing makes me more squirrelly than my dog friends finding a toad 🫠
My childhood dog, Bubba, ate a toad and got SO sick from that impulse decision! It’s one of those worst case scenarios that has shaped the way I work with the dogs I love.
A few weeks ago, Otis discovered this little guy in a bush at the private park. I’ve been doing my best to keep him safe but yesterday my most dedicated toad hunter found him too…
Enzo has had ‘eat a toad’ on his bucket list for YEARS. Our closest call ended with all three of us (toad + Enzo + me) taking a swim in swampy water after the toad panicked, Enzo lunged and I grabbed him. His momentum sent us into the water together but thankfully, that toad made it out safely. 🙃
I let Enzo go nose to nose with our little friend yesterday and we worked on being around the toad without lunging and grabbing. Enzo had a moment where he got too close and his nose made contact with the toad. Before I could shame him for it, he took off running 🥹
He eventually came back to watch the toad hop around from a very safe distance away and I am hoping we have decided toads are not an appealing snack after all 🤞🤞
Just another day at the office 🐸🐶
