🐾🐾 HELP ME WELCOME MY NEW PAWSITIVE VET CARE TEAM🐾🐾

I am so excited to introduce my New Pawsitive Vet Care Team. These Ladies are literally Family to me and a Godsend!

Katie will be my main Chaos Coordinator. For those that know me well, know this has to be one of the most difficult jobs. I am a Hot Mess most of the time, usually a full screen of open tabs and a to do list that is never ending. I am amazed that Katie has witnessed this and still willing to take on the Challenge. So, please be patient with her. There are usually 2 phone lines ringing, multiple emails with multiple prescription requests, and not to mention trying to manage my crazy schedule, especially as I try to schedule some vacation days this month.

About Katie. I have known Katie for 16 years now, she has become family to me. Not only is she an animal lover, but she is a recently retired pediatric dental hygienist. I was so blessed to have her do that tough job for Aubrey for 12 years. I feel tough job is an understatement, and will share some of the amazing things she did for him. I could literally write a book about Aubrey dental stories. I am so thankful for his amazing, dental care team. When Katie isn’t working, she shares her time with her husband (another family favorite of ours), Brian, and her adorable Vizsla pup, Piper, and Special Kitty Boy, Finn. Brian has been my family’s favorite Charter Captain for many years. He is Aubrey’s idol, for he wants to be just like him. I am so thankful for Katie and Brian!

Alexa, is literally family to me. She is my cousin Brian’s, beautiful daughter. I was so excited to receive a text from her this spring asking me if she could shadow me this summer after she graduated UF. She is very interested in going to vet school. I didn’t hesitate to respond, you are Hired! Words cannot express how impressed I am with how fast she has picked up things. Definitely blessed to have her by my side assisting me. Your pets are in great hands with her. I am so proud of all her accomplishments. I am also excited for her future and have no doubts she will make an excellent Veterinarian if she so chooses. Alexa just recently rescued her first puppy of her own, Nessie, a 3 year old Yorkie Mix, and very lucky puppy. She also shares her beloved family boy, Louie.

Heidi has been a part of our team for about a year and a half now. Mostly helping out on Fridays, but she made extra time for us, helping out Mackenzie before we were blessed with Alexa and Katie joining the team. I have known Heidi for almost 20 years. She is an amazing chaos coordinator for my amazing chiropractor, and previous vet assistant for Dr. Manarino for many years. She has also been a godsend for me.

Please help me welcome theses amazing, kind-hearted women. I have no doubts they are perfect for the job! Please be patient during this transition. Mackenzie has done an amazing job training them! It is not an easy job. They have unfortunately had to meet some of your during the most difficult time of saying Goodbye, and have done it with such grace. This is definitely the hardest part of our job, and I feel confident that I have the right crew to help me on those tough days.

Thanks again to all of you who have trusted me to help with the care of your Beloved Family! 💕🐾

Today is Mackenzie’s last day as she leaves us to prepare for her Baby Girl. She will definitely be missed, but we are excited for her Next Chapter. Feel free to stop by and say Good-Bye and meet Katie, Alexa & Heidi. I am headed out of town for a long weekend. Please be patient with our new team members. I guarantee you will love them as much as I do! I will introduce them to you in my next post. I would also like to thank the Amazing Team at Sweet Sage for our Delicious Brunch that we had to celebrate Mackenzie last weekend.

🐾🐾Important Announcement 🐾🐾

There are some important changes happening. After 27 years of practicing as a Full Time Veterinarian, with 23 years practicing as a Solo Practice Owner, it is time for me to cut my hours. Unfortunately; I will no longer be considered a full service veterinarian. I am not planning to go anywhere quite yet. I plan to continue to practicing and be here for my clients. I just need to cut my hours and make a little more time for my family. With the retirement of Jill (my surgery tech of 27 years) and Kat, and now with Mackenzie leaving to get ready for the arrival of her baby girl; I will no longer be performing Surgeries and Dental procedures. This transition has been happening over the past year. I feel very confident that the Vets at the Animal Hospital of Treasure Island (now located in Seminole), Cornerstone Veterinary Hospital, the Cat Hospital on Park Street, and others that we can recommend will take great care of your pets if needed. I also feel confident with the many options for after hours and Urgent Care when I can not be here for your sick pet. Please see our list of options.

The last 6 years have definitely been the most difficult in my career. I am proud of the practice that I have built. It definitely hasn’t been easy, with Covid, many Hurricanes, 3 Moves of the practice, and most recently the loss of both of my parents in the last 2 years, and Scott’s Dad 6 months ago. I know it’s been a tough time for everyone. I feel so blessed that we moved when we did and were spared from the Hurricanes. My business would have never survived. However, my heart has been breaking with all the stories of loss that so many of you have suffered since the storms. I feel that God spared me since I was suffering the loss of my mother just 2 months prior, and then put me in a position to help many of you after the Hurricanes. Many of you probably don’t realize what an important part of my life my mom played. She was my number one employee and cheerleader. She never called in sick in over 20 years. Not only did she work the early morning hours at the Hospital, but she watched Aubrey so that I could continue to work Full time just weeks after after having him. I always told her I didn’t know how I could do it without her, and that has proven to be very true. It has definitely been a struggle.

My son, Aubrey, just turned 15. I would definitely like to enjoy more time with him before he graduates high school. He and his dad have been my rocks the last 6 years. I couldn’t do it without them. They have also become a part of my vet team and will be helping out more at the clinic. It is and truly has been a Family Owned Practice from the beginning.

I have been so Blessed to have Mackenzie return this past year! What a lifesaver! I couldn’t have done it without her. She has literally run this place mostly by herself the past 2 months with help of Heidi and my Boys on some days. She has definitely earned some time off before becoming a full time Mama. As much as I would love to have her longer, I am so excited to watch her begin her next Chapter. Her departure has also pushed me to cut back my hours so that I can focus on 2 new projects that I have been working on, and will share more information with you soon. They are definitely Veterinarian Related. I am not done yet, and hope to be able to help you all and your Beloved Pets with their care as much as I can. Thanks so much for trusting me with that important job!

I do ask you to Please Be Patient—- as we will have some very, Beautiful new faces at the clinic. Pictures and Introductions coming soon! Please do not take it out on the Messenger! They are basically taking on the role of Chaos Coordinators! If you only knew how Chaotic the lives of us Veterinarians are, you would understand that it is a Very Challenging Job!! Just ask Mackenzie! I have no doubt that they will do a wonderful job and you will love them! I am excited to have them join me on this adventure and next chapter!

I will no longer have appointments on Fridays to allow myself time to work on my new projects. We will also no longer have office hours on Tuesdays. Tuesday has always been a day off for me. And by day off, I mean a day for Doctors (Mainly Aubrey’s many Orthodontic appointments) and hair appointments (have you seen my gray roots?) and paperwork catch-up; not really a relaxing day off. I will also be taking some time off in June to enjoy a little, much earned vacation time with my family. So, please plan for Medication refills. We ask that you call ahead (and refrain from walking in) to request and allow us a day or 2 to get ready. We do our best to refill all requests the same day, but cannot guarantee it. Please also don’t wait until the end of the day or week to try and get an appointment for the same day. We try and save appointments for sick patients, but appointments are definitely limited during this next month with me scheduling some time off.

Thanks if you stayed with me this long (for this long post and for the last 20 plus years for some of you). Please stay tuned for more announcements coming soon. Thanks again for being such great clients! I truly do appreciate your patience and understanding!

Happy Birthday to Mackenzie! It has been a privilege to watch her grow over the past 14 years. She played with little Aubrey when she was just 12 years old. She began as a vet assistant with me at 15 years old. She made a brief switch to human nursing, but I have been blessed as God sent her back to me. She literally can do it all and does do it all! I am often mistaken for her mom which is such a compliment for me. I am excited to watch her become a mom soon! I’m not sure what I will do without her so please be patient as I find her replacement.

🐾🐾We would like to share some exciting news about 2 of our Pawsitive Vet Care Family Members. We are happy for Kat as she is about to retire after 30 years of Dedicated Service to the Veterinary Field. We are very happy for her and sad for us, as we say Goodbye. Thirty years in this field is not easy, and I have been blessed to have had her help me for almost 10 of those years. Please help us celebrate this amazing accomplishment and her hard work. If you don’t know, Kat is quite the cat whisperer and an amazing baker. She plans to continue with her Cat sitting business and have more hours to bake and for Cat and Puppy Kisses at home. She will definitely be missed, and we wish her all the Best in this new phase of life!

We would also love to share that Mackenzie will be welcoming a Baby Girl later this summer! We are so excited for her, Tanner, and her family!💕

We are very excited for both, Kat and Mackenzie to start their new journeys. Please be patient with us during this time. As I approach 27 years of practice myself, I will be making some adjustments. I am not going anywhere, but I will no longer be full service. We have been very fortunate to have Amazing support from the Animal Hospital of Treasure Island, now located on Seminole Blvd. They have a great 3 Veterinarian Practice and have helped us with many surgeries and emergencies over the past year. We appreciate all of the Awesome Care they have given to many of our patients. We always appreciate our clients and their referrals to their family and friends, but unfortunately we are unable to take on new patients as we try and focus on our current patients.

Thanks so much for everyone’s continued support❣️🐾

🐾🎄We would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas! This time of year can be very difficult for everyone. Unfortunately, this time of year comes with an increase in pet loss numbers. It is heartbreaking anytime someone loses a pet or family member, but this time of year makes it so much more difficult. Our hearts go out to everyone suffering a loss this time of year.

We lost a very long time and dear client , Jamilou Rosenkrans. Many of you may have met her this past year, as she was in the office often with her beloved chihuahua, Delila. Jamilou has always been an idol to me over the years. She was an amazing Business owner (Jim’s Harley Davidson) and very giving through the years. She started the Harley Christmas Toy Run over 25 years ago. She was also a Big Giver to the Pet Community , helping with Blue Pearl’s Frankie’s Friends and a big supporter of Pet Pal Rescue. We had the privilege of helping her care for her numerous chihuahuas for the past 17 years. We have peace knowing that she has been reunited with them at the Rainbow Bridge along with her husband, Jim, and her Uncle and right hand man, Unc. I am blessed to have the best clients, and many of you are like family to us. It is crazy to think I have been doing this for almost 27 years. So many of you and your pets have made a big impact on my life. If I only had the time to share all of the stories.

Please, Please keep your pets safe this Holiday Season and away from anything that could cause harm. We hate to see anyone end up in the Pet ER.

Our office will be closed this Wednesday at noon and Thursday. We will be open this Friday.
Next Week, we will be open on Monday, but will have very limited appointments. I will be away most of the rest of next week to spend time with family.

Please see the attached ER Clinics list. We hope that you will not need it, but please don’t wait if your pet is not feeling well.

I would also love to Thank my Rockstar Team for always being there for me and your beloved pets. This job is not easy!!! Thanks again for trusting us with helping to care for your Pets. 🎄🐾 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! ~ Dr. Green

Please support our Small Businesses today and everyday! Here are 4 that I definitely recommend. Cake Affection, Beach Wellness, Sweet Sage, and Spenga. We thoroughly enjoyed their pies and cinnamon rolls this week! Our family also enjoys their locally raised, grass fed meats at Cake Affection. I cannot tell you how much that I enjoy my workouts at Spenga. It was seriously a reason that I chose our new location. It is definitely the best hour workout that I have ever had. I am proud of myself for just recently attending my 250th class. Hopefully, everyone has enjoyed a great meal at Sweet Sage, and if you haven’t, please go and take your dog if they do well out! And Beach Wellness is just amazing!! Please go visit them, they have the most amazing wellness treatments available! You will not be disappointed!!!
