We have some new friends around here and it’s been a minute since I’ve taken the time to introduce myself! And what more perfect day to reintroduce myself than National Baker Day! To anyone that is just joining us- welcome! We’re so happy to have you here! To everyone who has been along for the ride, thank you for being here! I couldn’t do what I love without y’all!
I’m Sam, and my husband Chris and I run Eversweet Bakery as well as The Sweetest Thing Barkery (organic dog treats). Chris is the finance guy/ website guy/ carries the 50 pound bags of flour and sets up the tent at events guy, while I play mad scientist in the kitchen and bake everything from scratch for both businesses.
I have been baking since I was tall enough to stand on a chair and help my grandma make apple pies, and I’ve never stopped. In high school I was able to take a few honors culinary classes, and even won some scholarships to college for recipe development! Being in the kitchen is my happy place, and I love getting to share that with all of you!🫶🏻
We both work full time in higher ed, but we love getting out into the community for farmers markets on weekends whenever we’re able to. We moved to GA last year from North Carolina, and we’ve been having so much fun exploring our new area and meeting amazing people.
Our dogs are our whole world, and you may even catch a glimpse of Shadow from time to time in my posts- he’s my allergen detection service dog.
One of my biggest “why’s” behind having a bakery and loving baking so much is that I’ve had anaphylactic peanut and tree nut allergies since I was a kid, and it’s next to impossible to find safe baked goods in a store these days. When you can manage to find any without cross contact, they don’t usually taste great and are loaded with tons of ingredients that no one can pronounce. We do not have any nuts in our kitchen at any time, so I love getting to make baked goods that can help others with nut allergies feel included in special events, with baked goods that (though I’m biased) taste pretty dang good! 😉 we officially launched of cottage bakery almost 6 years ago, but rebranded and restarted all of our pages/ website last year when we moved to GA!
A few other fun facts: hockey is my favorite sport (I played growing up and love watching now), traveling is my favorite pastime (I’m happiest on a cruise ship or exploring new cultures/ countries), Italian food and sushi are my favorite foods, and you can usually find me listening to a true crime podcast while I bake. Fall is my favorite season, so get ready for all things fall! Thank you for being on this journey with us!🩵
