New Day Dog Training

New Day Dog Training It's a New Day! Start off on the right paw. Train the basic commands with your furry friend so they can live a happy and balanced life.

These skills will not only come in handy, they will help create a strong bond and happy home between you and your dog! My name is Megan Banfield, I have been around and worked with dogs since 2005 and full time since 2010. I am a certified dog trainer with a Basic Pro course certificate from CATCH Cainine Trainers Academy. In my spare time I am also a volunteer also puppy raiser for the organizati

on Guiding Eyes for the Blind. I have my personal dog, Curlie Sue. She is a sassy girl who LOVES the sport of Barn Hunt, has earned her Canine Good Citizen, completed Basic Obedience, K9 Nose work and Novice Trick Dog title from AKC. My goal as a trainer is to train owners to teach their dogs. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing a special bond formed over training together! My methods are primarily treat based training, however I am a firm believer in using tools and techniques that are going to be the most successful for every dog. This includes the use of E Collars, Prong Collars and Figure 8’s (same concept as a gentle leader). Please understand that just because I include these tools does not mean I will automatically suggest them. Every dog/owner and their needs are different and I determine what appropriate tool/s are needed. It’s all about building owner confidence to teach their dog successfully and creating that strong bond. OFFERED: $45/per session (1 hour)

Basic Puppy Obedience, Advanced Basic Obedience and some specific issues (such as jumping, counter surfing, greeting at the door and crating are just some of them)

Pre Training/Early Socidlization for potential service dogs. *message for more details*
Types of service dogs are Medical Alert, PTSD, Assistance Dogs and Guide Dogs
I am NOT a certified Service Dog trainer, nor will I attempt to train specific tasks.
*ESA (Emotional Support Animals) are not recognized as a service animals under the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act). Please visit the ADA website for any questions regarding ESAs. It has become such an abused title which has made it more difficult for real service dogs. This is not something I support. PRIVATE LESSONS
The number of sessions are based on the the dogs needs. I do not like to put a limit on you or your pups success! we base the number of sessions off of the progress of your dog.

*At this time I will not be offering services for any issues regarding aggression, fear or anxiety* however I have connections so Please don’t hesitate to ask about referrals!

***Please understand that getting a puppy or adult dog is a lifetime commitment. Training isn’t just for the few weeks or just at each session. It continues after our time together and throughout the dogs life. With that being said, I ask respectfully for serious inquiries only. ***

I look forward to meeting you and your pup!

Oh my heart😍 I am just loving this little girl. Today’s session was all about loose leash walking/walking with distractions. I brought my personal dog Curlie to assist with dog distractions for both Kenzie and Duffy. They both did so well. Kenzie is seen here in this video offering check ins to her owner while keeping a nice loose leash, with that little sit at the end!❤️

We have learned with Duffy that his excitement builds up so much at the front door to the point he just barrels through and once outside he stays in that super excited state where it’s a little tricky to get him re focused. So Duffys session was a lot of repetition siting, waiting then politely walking out the front door. This will help him gain just a bit more self control.

We had a super positive session today. While Kenzie is perfecting her “sits”, “downs” and the introduction to “stay”, my guy Duffy is over here keeping himself collected and engaged with his owner.

Duffy REALLY loves life, people and other dogs so sometimes he gets a bit excited and overstimulated. Today Duffy tackled (and rocked) maintaining self control when he saw a familiar person walk by. Normally Duffy would get so excited and anxious he would start to pull his owner while on leash. This clip shows Duffy is already understanding how to sit and wait politely as his owner and person stop to say hello. We have learned that he works well with calm and clear direction from whoever is handling him. Super proud of this dude today!

Just doing what baby floofs do best 😍 Kenzie is rocking her obedience! She has already been introduced to name response, sit, down, recalls and touch. It’s super important to teach a puppy early on a solid name response and recall especially for safety reasons just in case they get loose or the leash drops!

Another important idea to teach is the acceptance of novel objects inside and outside the house. This helps dogs build confidence about the always changing world around them. Kenzie and Duffy both showed a bit of sensitivity to unfamiliar objects dropping or just being in an area of the yard that is usually not occupied. Both pups were hesitant at first to really check out the balancing props I had out but with some time and positive reinforcement both dogs were able to walk by, watch them drop and even stand on them! So much progress in such a short amount of time. Super proud of both these guys!

New clients Duffy(older golden) and Kenzie (puppy)! Kenzie is an 8 week old Golden who will be starting puppy obedience. She is already wicked smart and oh so cute! Her handsome brother Duffy will be working on refreshing his commands, reinforcing loose leash walking as well as learning to channel all that lovable energy into something more productive like mental games and tricks. Keep watching for pupdates each week!🤗
