Turtle Ridge Wildlife Center NEEDS to be open and helping the injured and orphaned wildlife in Oregon.

Did you know that in 2019, Turtle Ridge received animals from 16 different Oregon counties? 16!

Oregon Dept. of Fish and Wildlife has not reinstated our license and every day means MORE animals are not receiving support.

The quickest way you can help is to share, comment, and tell everyone you know. Also, if you haven't already, please sign our petition: https://bit.ly/37V4RvP

Many people have reached out about additional ways they can take action. Thank you so, so, so much. Please keep us in your thoughts and we'll share more ways to help as they come available!

A message from Ben at ACRN, Northwest Wildlife Alliance:

It has been 148 days since ODFW shut down Turtle Ridge and they have STILL refused to justify the ridiculous suspension of Jessy’s license or their killing of a bear cub the center tried to save.

This agency has blatantly and maliciously abused its authority to play games with OAR regulation as a weapon to wage a war against wildlife rehabilitation. Turtle Ridge is not its first target, nor will it be its last (More info on ODFW’s other victims to come).

They have no valid argument because there is no valid argument.

This is why they have ignored or denied ACRN’s multiple attempts to discuss the issue with ODFW, and why neither the Director nor the Commission would respond to the five testimonies we gave on this.

When they bludgeoned a juvenile bobcat to death in 2019, ODFW called it “humane euthanasia,” which it absolutely was not. Yet they managed to hide away until the public’s attention moved on and the outrage dissipated, with no change in policy or any other consequence. They will try to do the same here, and we will not let that happen.

WE MUST TAKE A STAND if there is to be a future for the welfare of wildlife rescue and rehabilitation. The importance and need for wildlife protection has never been greater.

ODFW cannot be allowed to continue running roughshod in our state. We can only do that with your support.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! Here are two ways YOU can help save Turtle Ridge Wildlife Center and support helpless wildlife in our community—right now!

1) Sign our petition! Stand with us and show Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) that Turtle Ridge provides a critical service to our community and that animals like the recent black bear cub should be cared for, not killed. Wildlife should be protected and respected, always!

SIGN PETITION: https://bit.ly/37V4RvP

2) Write to ODFW! Send them a message and share why you think Turtle Ridge should be reinstated and how you feel about how ODFW is handling the wildlife care in our state.

Recently, a group of Turtle Ridge advocates spoke before a special committee of Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. *video below*

These testimonies are powerful, insightful, and hit right to the heart of the issue: Wildlife should be protected and respected, always.

Their objective was to address the killing of a rescued black bear cub and appeal to the committee to consider reinstatement of Turtle Ridge Wildlife Center's rehabilitation license. Also discussed was ODFW's often tumultuous relationship with wildlife rehabilitators.

Thank you for time and energy as we work to !

Friends of wildlife and supporters of Turtle Ridge Wildlife Center, Oregon's wildlife needs your help.

On the evening of April 2, after the finder waited a day in the scorched forests for signs of mamma, Turtle Ridge received a black bear cub that was malnourished and medically failing. Our director, Jessy, nursed him through the night. The following day, Oregon Dept. of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) was notified. Sadly, they removed the bear cub from Turtle Ridge's care and it was promptly euthanized.

ODFW has since revoked our rehabilitation license on the grounds that we did not notify them fast enough.

Friends, this has left us unable to serve the community and care for injured wildlife.

Please click below to read a letter recently sent to ODFW about the tragic death of an innocent black bear cub and the importance of Turtle Ridge's life-saving services. We will be sharing information as it comes in, but with your help, we can fight to open back up and to keep serving the thousands of animals who need us each year.
