Bella's Voice Feral Cat Fair continues tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at both store locations (Lynnwood and Shoreline). Come say hi to Community Cat Coalition and our collaboration partner South County Cats! These two groups, along with Alley Cat Project and FCSNP, are Bella's Voice Charities of the Month for October, so if you do a little shopping while you're there (you know you want to!), you can round up your purchase to help community cats.

Bella's also has spooky cat stickers (based on several varieties of feral cat) for just $1, and 100% of the proceeds from them will be donated to these 4 cat charities!

This week's Big Boy came to us with the name Viola-6, but is now named Zen (nickname Zenni) because he is so chill. He's 4½ years old and weighs 14.15 pounds!

Zen was brought to us last week for his neuter and vaccines by a very dedicated rescuer in Yakima who found out about him through the All Animals Matter Yakima County Facebook group. He was first seen in an apartment complex in September, where a neighbor thinks he was left behind in the early summer after a member of his family died and the others moved away.

The neighbor saw him sporadically, and one day noticed that his eyelid was injured and he might need medical help. They reached out via the Facebook group, and his rescuer stepped in. "I had to help him," she said. "He is such a sweet boy."

So sweet, in fact, that he is now available for adoption! More good news: the tear to his eyelid wasn't serious and is healing on its own. He does have some issues with his teeth, and he's heading off for a dental soon to get those taken care of.

A beautiful orange and black face for Halloween month! This is Meatball, a pet kitty from Seattle who helped us kick the month off right when she visited us on Oct. 1 for her spay, vaccines, and microchip.

Meatball is a just over a year old, which is a great time to get her spay. Repeated heats, not to mention pregnancies, are hard on a kitty's body, but getting her spay while she's young means she'll have a healthier and happier life. No tricks here, only treats!

Call for carriers! FCSNP is in need of pet carriers of all sizes for cats, from Big Boys to kittens like Ziggy here. These carriers will be used for kitties at our clinics who come in with one that doesn't quite work for them, for whatever reason. If you have a spare carrier, or spot one at a thrift store, you can drop it off at our Lynnwood clinic at 17633 Highway 99 #110, Lynnwood, WA 98037 Monday-Thursday, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Ziggy is a rescue kitten who visited us for his neuter at the end of September, and came in with his own perfectly color-coordinated carrier! We can't promise to always meet that level of fashion, but we will ensure cats are secure and ready for a comfortable trip home.

Thank you for giving cats something to press their ears happily against as they recover from anesthesia! And their eyebrows, and their foreheads... 😹

Vet Tech Week is Oct. 18-24, and we invite you to join us in appreciating our technicians! Joan, Whitney, and Rita in Lynnwood and Sagan and Mariel at our Renton clinic/collaboration with South County Cats apply their experience and expertise to help all the cats who visit us for spays and neuters.

Our techs have many important responsibilities, including assisting with surgeries and other procedures, administering anesthesia, monitoring our feline patients, teaching our human clients how to care for their cats post-surgery, and weighing Big Boys. (Techs also help our vets celebrate milestones like cat #4,000 at our Renton location in 2026, as you see here!)

FCSNP's clinics couldn't run at all without the help of our techs. So while Vet Tech Appreciation Week is a great time to celebrate them, we appreciate the heck out of them every day, all year!

Two tiny kittens recently arrived at Homeward Pet wrapped in towels that looked surprisingly familiar.

Their journey started with our friends at Feral Cat Spay Neuter Project, where they were spayed and cared for before making their way to us. The towels keeping them warm after surgery had been donated to Homeward Pet by our supporters and shared with FCSNP to help animals in their care. Eventually, those same towels came full circle, arriving back at Homeward wrapped around these two kittens.

It's a simple reminder of how much this work is a community effort. Donors, volunteers, partner organizations, foster homes, and adopters all play a role in giving pets the care they need.

We love seeing the many ways our community comes together to help pets, one small act of kindness at a time!

Today is Global Cat Day and also National Feral Cat Day, an important holiday in the spay/neuter world! Feral Cat Day was created by Alley Cat Allies in 2001 to raise awareness of community cats and share the benefits of TNR.

These two kittens are “TiffanyBH-44” and “TiffanyBH-45.” Both visited us this past summer for their snips and vaccines, but their story didn't begin with them: When you see numbers like that after a name, you can tell we’ve been seeing free-roaming cats from the same big site. Their trapper was kind enough to share their story with us.

The Tiffany site was reported to ACP in June as 6-7 adult cats who had all showed up in the spring, and 2 litters of young kittens at one residential property (also on Beacon Hill in Seattle, which has a large feral cat population. “The homeowners were unaware of the true magnitude of the problem when they contacted ACP. I managed to round up 20 kittens on my first day at the site,” their trapper said. “The final kitten count over the course of July and August was 33, and one of the postpartum females we spayed had birthed her 6 kittens about 5 houses down who were all rescued and kept by that family. FCSNP fixed those kittens through ACP as well.” One of the female cats was on her second litter of the season.

“Only one kitten from this site, TiffanyBH-44 who I caught at about 4 months old, was too spicy to foster, and he was returned to the site where he has been working on socialization to at least porch-cat status.” The majority of the adults were returned to their site, all 15 now spayed and neutered; a tripod went to feral sanctuary and one friendly male went up for adoption.

Some of these kitties were fixed through Seattle Humane or transferred before S/N to a partner rescue. Others went through our Renton clinic/collaboration with South County Cats, but the majority of them came through our Lynnwood clinic. “We all so appreciate the work you do and the partnership you've built with ACP! Thank you!!” their trapper said.

Big Boy Thursday is super, and so is this cat! Seriously, his name is Super, short for Superintendent, because he thought of himself as the boss of the area he's from. He's a free-roaming guy who visited us for his neuter, vaccines, and flea treatment a couple of weeks ago.

Super is 2 years old and weighs 11.2 pounds! He wasn't interested in being adoptable, so he was returned to his site. Neutered tomcats are more relaxed and less likely to fight, so now that he has his snip, he can stop trying to prove to the other cats at his site that he's in charge!

It's almost here! The Saturday you can celebrate cats, do a little shopping to benefit them, and say hello to us and some of our partner organizations!

Bella's Voice is supporting 4 cat organizations, including FCSNP, at a special Charity of the Month lineup at their Feral Cat Fair. The event takes place from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at both BV locations, Lynnwood and Shoreline. FCSNP will be at the Lynnwood event on the 17th, with Alley Cat Project in Shoreline. And next Saturday, Oct. 24, Community Cat Coalition will be at the Lynnwood Feral Cat Fair with South County Cats in Shoreline.

And speaking of South County Cats, their CAToberfest festival takes place in Renton on Saturday the 17th as well! Enjoy delicious baked goods, creative crafts, fun games and kids' activities, a raffle, and more. CAToberfest is free, but donations of canned cat food or cash are always appreciated.

Celebrate fall while supporting spay and neuter and hanging out with great people who love helping cats!

Happy Toes-day! Black Hole shows off his polydactyl paws while he enjoys a post-neuter snack, just like Tommy from yesterday's post.

Black Hole is a pet kitty who visited us from Darrington, WA, in September, along with his companion, Sunny and Eve. All received their snips, vaccines, and flea preventative, as well as nail trims to ensure comfortable toes. (If you're a Soundgarden fan and you suddenly found yourself humming "Black Hole Sun," we understand!)
