Not so good news - our mailbox was vandalized and very likely mail was stolen. So if you have already sent in a premium, we have not received any. Please let us know, and you may want to take steps to protect your account if you wrote a check. We will notify you immediately if/when we do receive your premium. We have reported this incident to the police and the USPS.

Congratulations to our good Border Collie friend, Diza (Hob Nob Sienna Diza CD BN RM4 RAE2 RC3 NA CGCA CGCU STR TKE) and her human Catherine! They were named NUMBER ONE by breed in AKC Rally Obedience for 2025, which is an incredible achievement. This amazing team has been Training in Rally Obedience (as well as Agility, Rally Freestyle and Treibball - Diza & Catherine are stars at all of these) at Four Paw Sports since Diza was a young pup, and we couldn’t be prouder!

🚨 Two new puppy offerings 🚨 Your puppy will have a blast at our weekly 3-day camps where activities will include play time, crate training, skills training, and more!

Our camps include a private 30-minute follow-up session with your trainer to review your puppy's progress from the week.

All camps are Tuesday through Thursday from 8 AM - 12 PM.

Little Learners Day Camp for puppies 8-20 weeks old.
Power Paws Day Camp for puppies 14-30 weeks old.

I love graphics like this! If we can learn to better understand these types of signals from our dogs, we can help them in those situations. Usually distance is a great choice. Remove them until these signals lessen. Then visit a trainer to learn how to help them in those situations!

Small signals.
Big meanings.
These movements and behaviors aren’t random.
They've been carefully chosen and deliberately used by your dog and they're being used to avoid confrontation, deescalate or steer clear of something they feel uneasy about .
They might sense just a little pressure or conflict...so they offer a signal to say, “We’re all good here.”

Growling is a clear signal they can give...but it's risky.
Way before the growl are all these little signals they can give.
It's communication and it's natural....but we can be "offended" when we realise they are aiming them at us.

Instead of taking it personally, we can ask ourselves....
Why do they feel the need to use them?
That question is an opportunity to support our dogs better

Some signals serve a double duty.
A tail lowering, perhaps tucking? Often fear.....but it can also act as appeasement.
A lowered head? Maybe appeasement, maybe fear.
Context matters.

They can be incredibly subtle.
Tricky to spot....but we owe it to our dogs to look a little deeper at why they are behaving the way they are.

It is all communication.
