This six week class will cover all our major life skills (loose leash walking, recall, stay, leave it) from a fun and reinforcement-based perspective. It is a great class for any dogs over 5 months who are starting out in a new home or need to brush up on their manners!

Classes are open at Diana Simonsen Dog Training starting Monday! Join me for nosework at 4 pm or teen play at 5:15 pm.

Nosework is available in a 6 week class format or weekly drop-in sessions. I take all levels, from "brand new to sniffy sports" to "actively competing". Dogs work one at a time while the others wait their turn. This is a very reactive dog friendly sport and I'm happy to work with you for what your dog needs to succeed.

Teen play & train is for teenagers from 5 months to 2 years (or social adults). We start with 5-15 minutes of practice settling and disengaging from each other, and then do some good romping in a fully fenced arena.

Terrible teens or aggravating adults? I've got you covered!

I have several small group classes that have spaces open. These classes meet once a week for 5 or 6 weeks and I take a maximum of 5 teams--lots of personalized attention! I consistently hear from students that they love the sense of community from my difficult dog classes.

I make it a priority that everyone is safe and welcomed, whether they have a 120 lb cane corso or a 5 lb toy poodle, whether they literally bred the dog or they just got the dog last Tuesday. I adapt my teaching and exercises to YOU and YOUR needs.

Some of the options:
Growing Pains at Kokoro Dog. Sundays at 4 pm, starting 7/19. This is my main teens class and is appropriate for dogs between 5 months and 2 years of age. We will cover all your basic manners skills with a focus on those particularly sticky adolescent brains: How can we get behaviors in distracting environments?

Control Unleashed at Kokoro Dog, Sundays at 2:45 pm starting 7/19, AND at Four Paw Sports Center, Tuesdays at 6 pm starting 7/21. This is a class for those of you who want even more focus on emotional regulation and building focus around distractions. Dogs should be over 5 months and able to be in a room where other dogs are present but not visible.

Reactive Rover at Four Paw Sports, Tuesdays at 3:30 pm and 4:45 pm, starting 7/21. For dogs who struggle seeing other dogs on walks. We will build skills for both you and your dog and then apply them in safe and controlled setups.

Teen Play and Train at Diana Simonsen Dog Training, Mondays at 4 pm. For those of you who want to go to dog parks but are worried about the other dogs there. This is a small, carefully managed group. I referee the play, enforce breaks, and help you tackle small training problems.

Spots available in my January scentwork classes!

These classes are held indoors at Kokoro Dog (Maltby/Woodinville). Dogs run one at a time and wait in the car between runs--perfect for reactive dogs! Many of my students have competition in mind, and I'm happy to help you work towards AKC/UKC/NACSW goals.

But many are doing it for their dog, and if you just want to have fun, more power to you! No experience/materials required, totally happy to start you from square one.

These classes are usually full weeks in advance, but several students are taking a winter break. So if you want to jump in, now's your chance!

Classes are 6 weeks, $250, and meet either Friday afternoons (4 & 5:15 pm) or Sunday evenings (5:15 and 6:30 pm)

Want to get into dog sports but don't know where to start? DO know where to start, but your dog is missing some crucial skills? Just want to practice transitions in a small group?

I have a new class, Sports Skills Foundations running at Kokoro Dog in 2 weeks. We'll be looking at what do our dogs need to know to play in dog sports--any sport. Gear talk, car crating and car skills, transitions, reinforcement delivery (toys vs food and other hot topics!), ignoring other dogs, novel locations and more!

Nosework classes starting soon!

Where: Diana Simonsen Dog Training, Carnation

When: Mondays, 4 pm, starting 9/1

What: Teach your dog to use their nose! Dogs can learn so much from the world around them if they stop to sniff. By building skills from the ground up, your dog will learn alternative ways to handle stress and frustration--and you will get some good ways to burn off their excess energy!

This class is also suitable for more experienced nosework dogs looking for a new location to practice in.

Dogs work one at a time (making this a suitable class for reactive dogs) and do at least two rounds of searching (sometimes 3!).

How much: $200 for a 6 week series, $35 for a drop in session.

Despite the name, this is also an appropriate class for dogs already on odor or who have some nosework experience. I will tailor the class to your dog's skills and needs.

Looking for nosework dogs and goofy dogs alike!

I have one student in tomorrow's 3pm nosework drop-in, and one in the 5:30 teen play session. I'd love a second (or even a third?) for each. More dogs mean more examples to learn from!

Nosework is open to any dog, experienced or not. Teen play is open to social dogs under 2 years or play adults if you talk to me first.

Both classes are located at Diana Simonsen's lovely facility in Carnation!
